KenTn: Hmmm, It looks like my question got cut a little short. It should have read...
Does Freedom of Speech give you the right to interrupt public events like parades, movies, memorials, concerts, and political campaigns?
Oh well, we live and learn.
Cheers
In our first amendment they talk about " Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances". When you ask to interrupt public events that does not sound peaceful to me? To do so outside is one thing. To go into is a show of force. Just my opinion. There is a right way to do things. You do not have to come in with a show of force and interrupt any public event. If we allow this what is next? Going into our childrens schools? Going into our movie theaters? Going into a persons home? There does have to be boundaries. And your right to express yourself ends when you take anothers rights away. Be respectful. It is that simple.

When I see thugs disrupting and blocking traffic to political campaigns and claim its their right of Freedom of Speech its going a little too far beyond the intent of the 1st Amendment.
I wouldn't be so worried about some hired thugs at a political rally. Your attention should be focused on stopping sharia law in a town near you...think protesters are threatening....humm.
freedom of speech.......sometimes.....the vicar...is in hie pulpit giving it allthat...... and i feel its my right ,to stand up, look him in the eye......and shout Bol*******ks...all tho,s who agree with me say aye..........
KenTn: What are the limits of Freedom of Speech in today's environment.
. Does being a member of a site full of religious people give the right to ask silly questions of them and others who are here for serious topics in the forums.
If one group has obtained their permit to assemble in a designated area, protesters against them may not disrupt. They should face charges for disorderly conduct.
They may obtain their own permit and designated area to hold their protest.
I do not know why this is not being enforced except that it is selectively being allowed by those in authority who are against the original assembly. We have found this to be the case in most of the recent protests.
Peaceably is the key factor here. Protesters may not disrupt the assemblies they are against.
A Senator was rebuked at meeting for shouting out You Lie Mr President! It is not acceptable.

The Magna Carta was not a "peaceful process". The United States of America was not founded by peaceful protest. Quite the opposite. Look up Paul Revere, Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, Malcolm X, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Read "On The Road", "None Dare Call It Treason", for starters. Courageous men and women willing to sacrifice life and liberty. Peaceful assembly makes a wonderful bedtime story, but it's not how wrongs are righted. You need to bone up on what it takes to liberate a people.

So, because I serve the public, I was once taught, you never speak of religion or politics. First mistake, when we cannot speak of religion and/or politics, we have all ready lost the freedom of speech. Never keep you mouth shut, SCREAM AND YELL about YOUR RITE TO LIFE.

It isn't just public service jobs. Many employers actively impede our right to opinions, etc...by writing them into "policy and procedure" articles in handbooks and guidelines. This is totally wrong. I have never read anywhere in the Constitution where it says you no longer have your freedom of speech just because you're at work.
Perhaps. But those kinds of passive resistance, if they do find success, are still the exception, not the rule. I wish with all my heart that peaceful assembly and peaceful processes would be the machinery they are designed to be, but sadly, all too often they are not. Did you know that our first newspapers and editorials were illegal? But how could we accomplish separating from England if we went by the rules that were confining us? Do you not get it?
CapNemo: Your rights extend up to the point where they start infringing on someone elses rights.
and their rights extend up to the point where they start infringing upon yours...sounds like a standoff....this needs an exclusive American solution...a shoot-out with guns while singing 'My gun is bigger than your gun...
(rocket launchers and heavy caliber machine-guns with pick-up truck,(Toyotas)available on Libyan Facebook pages as of last night, for only 85 thousand Libyan dollars, despite denials by Facebook that weapons are for sale. openly, with photos...

Why would I need to bone up on that? The question was does freedom of speech give you the right to interrupt public events like parades movies or memorials. I think I answer the question. Maybe you need to bone up on how to answer a question
