galrads: Poll question: did Hollywood USA get it right about the culture in Ireland, in the movie 'The Quiet Man' (O'Hara, John Wayne 1952.)
Obviously it was made with an American audience in mind, so everything was greatly exaggerated to be as 'Oirish' as Irish-Americans wanted to believe their motherland was. The romanticised version.
The accents especially, were stage-Irish.
And we never ever say 'Top of the Morning to you!'

But obviously the scenery was real.
So, the typical woman in Ireland doesn't have red hair, freckles, fiery temper, top heavy, have ‘the gift of the gab’ and an expert dancer?
