Hope you're well dear friend.
Even if I grow bear ...I will never be a Man.rolling on the floor laughing
The good thing about any dictator is that one day they die.
Personally I don't feel anything about Fidel Castro death but Cubans who celebrate his death surely must have a good reason to feel that way.wine
I remember when Dictator Tito died; no one in forma Yugoslavia was allowed to celebrate but even if they didn't feel crying, people felt oblaged to cry, fearing regime ....Only people who went in emigration, they where free to throw a big party to celebrate for a week or more ....laugh I do not see shame or pride in that ...as during Tito life he did much genocide over his own people....like most dictators did ! wine

The Cuban people suffered because of your embargo, not because of Fidel...
He only wanted to preserve his country from becoming your dumping and play ground...
Can you believe Ooby, that there are people who don't want to be or live like you, I guess no...

Hi darling,
I understand your position,
as I answered to Ooby, it was the embargo that made Cuba halt it's progress for so long...
I wouldn't call a dictator a man who wanted to save his land and people from the false Western "culture"...
Cubans may celebrate but we know what will become of their country very soon...downhill and fast...
We have witnessed too many going there in the past few years... handshake

I am not usually in agreement with you...lol...but have to say that sanctions against Cuba was not the answer...it only harmed the people...

Cuba has had good relations towards Canada in large part due to the friendship forged between former PM Trudeau and Castro...

I did visit Cuba...a country that provided healthcare and education to its people but trapped from becoming prosperous...although Raul Castro has implementing changes so the people can earn a living...glad Obama is addressing lifting the embargo...

Glad we finally agree on something Lou.
But in my opinion Obama could have dome something about it much earlier, he is just trying to get few more points before he leaves... He was a president for 8 years, why waited that long...
I am sorry but that's pure hypocrisy...

Why not the other Presidents?...you cannot pin this one on Obama...although generally Republicans are afraid of socialism/communism...so doubtful they would of cared to address it...

Lets just say that Canada did not appreciate the embargo years ago...unfortunately our southern neighbour was stubborn...

I wonder what is in store for Cuba now since Castro's passing?...

A Legend in his own time and a man's man. A hero for the rebel in all of us and the bravery to act on it.. The truth will only be known in time. RIP Pappa! Condolences to his family and Cuba. Strength to steer the course dear brother.

Well, Obama isn't the only one who could've done something, indeed.
But The fact that he spoke now, after Fidel's death speaks volumes...you won't point a knife at a dead man...
What's in store, I hope they won't become anything like Mexico for example...

Without the embargo Cuba had everything to prosper and to prosper well...
And no, you certainly can not compare him to Tito...
I am sure many on here would have to google Cuba or Fidel to actually gain some knowledge about it...
