minnieme2: 10 minutes only? Usually takes 20 anyway, depending on the size. You must have had strong teeth!
noooo my Irish teacher said....keep the potato hard....because it would last longer in the mouth....before it turned to mush......and the feeling of not feeling hugery would last longer...,.. ..and she was an exspert....??
minnieme2: Even if you hated school, was there a subject you felt most comfortable with or interested in? Did it help define your work life afterwards or outside interests?
Mechanical Drawing/Carpentry - Metalwork & Woodwork notably rated ZERO percent on the list when I voted. At my secondary school both subjects involved maths & history and were all linked to mine and several of my friends hobbies.

Drama, music and art. Dancing about and singing, making pictures out of seashells and glitter - that's not a real education, that's what we'd have done if the teacher wasn't in the room.
I loved all my classes... well, the subjects anyway, not necessarily the classmates... I was always frustrated cause I wanted to take all the classes from industrial arts (yes, I can use a bandsaw!) to physics and fine arts.
And this is why I like the Classical Method of education - all the subjects are interrelated! I can teach a piano sonata and explain the physics of sound and the mechanics of the hammer and string action. Throw in the history of the composer and the math calculations of the timing of the sound and voila! My ideal lesson!!!
