I was saying God committed genocide with the whole Noah's Ark thing.
The biggest genocide ever, if it was supposed to wipe out everybody and everything on Earth with just a couple of exceptions.
I wasn't implying the flood was manufactured, I was implying that the story and consequently the God was.
I was implying that the story and the God was made in man's genocidal image, rather that man being made in the God's image.
History is written in the image of the writer, so 'rewriting' it is about the change of writer, not a change in past events.
You can't change past events, but you can't definitively record them either.
Even a film of certain events will be interpreted from each viewers own value framework. History is rewritten even from first hand experience, the first time it's recorded.
Actually, even a film of certain events is a rewrite, given the placement of the camera is a biased perspective.
Maybe we're touching on similarities among God Jehovah and Governor Christopher Columbus, since they both executed genicide but are both remembered for other things that may not have happened ... columbus never set foot on the continental USA
It is not for us to say that Cris/Columbus statue should be pulled down.....IT,s his statue....and he should have the last word on it.......jmo........ ::

I thought Columbus was a Christian...
What makes you think he ever wanted a statue of himself?
sergio09: I am really surprised that the "Christian" right has not responded to this thread! The Bible states that we are to have NO GRAVEN IMAGES. Therefore ALL statues should be torn down! Even religious statues. At least that is the way I see "born again Christians" should stand on the issue!
63 people were shot in Chicago this past weekend. Surely there's some statue there that can be taken down in the middle of the night that will stop that particular genocide, right?
New Orleans, in my home state, recently removed several statues because they were "oppressing African Americans". That still didn't suppress the black on black violence. This shlt is nothing but political pandering. Anyone who believes otherwise is kidding themselves...or participating in the pandering.
Oh look, it's the "off the grid" guy. Come on down to Louisiana... I'll drop you off in the French Quarter and you can ask those "natives" about ol Chris

Chicago deaths per 100 tho from "warfare" , 13 point something . Afghanistan warfare deaths 6 point something . I have met quite a few people off the grid and there was not one hippy among them , neither am I and whats more I was there before it was "cool " .
When I paddled my canoe around the country, I tied it under the Riverwalk, right down the ladder the crew uses to board the paddleboat (check it out: there's enough room under there to tie a 17' canoe facing toward the river); and even though I could sleep in my canoe, I stayed on the streets of the French Quarter, because I grew up on the streets of L.A., beginning when I was 16; and I wanted to try living on the streets of New Orleans, just to make sure I still have it.
Too bad for you, that you think a stay in the French Quarter would scare a grown man.
In response to: Oh look! It's the guy hiding behind locked doors!

Just because you're even afraid to even climb down the ladder to check out what the underside of the Riverwalk looks like, doesn't mean I'm afraid of the French Quarter.
There's a nice hotel near there that has shopping on the bottom floor, and it takes two separate elevators to reach the top floor.
At the top of the hotel is a swimming pool; and I picked the lock with my Buck knife, to use the showers.
Its alright that you're afraid of the French Quarter; but I'm one of many people who thrive on the streets, and aren't afraid to be there after dark.
Thank you. Facts are facts and there are some things that Galrads mentions that aren't so great but he is part of our history in this hemisphere. Instead of trying to deny or change history [both futile] let's instead find others we want to honor. BTW he was Portugese.
a lot of the island peoples including places like Hawaii aldo died of illnesses that europeans exposed them to because they had no built up immunity to them.
"Estimates for the pre-Columbus population of Hispaniola range between 1.1 million and 8 million Arawaks." I read between 80,000 and 8 million, generally stated from 500,000 to 1 million. I even find that figure high for a primitive civ.
It seems the first settlement of the Europeans was sacked. And Colombus isn't to blame that gold was so popular.
You can't erase history. and with that bad came also happened good. America is the richest country in the world. And you can't say that for Haiti. Or Spain. Or Portugal.
I find it weird from the Americans that they blame how they got there.... Better just add it in the text underneath what the accomplishments were of the person. also the bad.
But there is no guarantee that any other ruler or discoverer wouldn't have led to the same results.
