Bearwoman: I'm the youngest of my older siblings and the way things have been going the last few years I may soon be the only one left of my parents children.
Oh my... sorry to hear that. Two of my siblings were in poor health for a few years. It was gut wrenching... especially since I live in another state from them. I felt helpless and lonely and angry also
CossackCat: Have you noticed any patterns with being an only child? Are you more independent?, Self reliant? Confident? Etc..
I think a preference for spending a significant amount of time on my own is probably a consequence of being an only child. I'm not particularly independent, self reliant or confident.

Last I heard I only have one older brother left who resides somewhere in Florida and as far as I know I'm the only one left of the girls in my family.
I generally live on patterns, and relation wise I always been attracted to the worst of men. Mind u to everyone else they saw them as the catch of the century ! All totally abusive.

Some people can never be alone. I had a room mate like that once. Other people can not be alone with their own thoughts... So you have one up on both of those
I'm the middle child and the only one that wasn't spoiled. My older brother was the first born with all the birthright that bestows. My younger sister was the only girl and my father had no sisters and always wanted a girl. I had a much younger brother who was an accident, and the was true baby of the family. It's a toss up between him and my sister as to who was the most spoiled.
I've read in several article opinions that someones birth order can affect someones personality and life as an adult.I can only speak for myself that some of my childhood and into my adulthood did take affect on me.

My middle sibling always said she felt left out or ignored. The rest of us don't see it. But her feelings and experiences are her own. So may be you are on to something there

It certainly did for me. The older I get the more I see it.

The older I get the more I think about it all the more but I don't quite understand of why it happened the way that it did.I know it made me the way I've chosen to be like as a person.

Exactly... no matter what, we have choices as adults
My choices might not had been always the best of choices but they were mine and I had to deal with them and the consequences that obviously came from them.
,,yes...and we lived in a 2 bedroom house...mum/dad had their own room.....our room ...we took turns in sleeping.....half stood up while the other half slept...... unless we had visitors....then we all stood up.....(bedroom)

I always heard the quotes: "God doesn't give you any more than you can handle" & "What doesn't kill you make you stronger". Those people were crazy... I think it is more like "This is only a test"

I'm pretty sure that I failed a good share of those life's tests too.
