A hero. Whoever doubts that needs to be drafted, and see how they like it. Besides, he won the world championship 3 times, the second after the boxing commission stole his title because he stood up against the draft.

Now that he's dead, maybe you can beat him?

Well, he certainly wasn't a coward. It takes courage to stand up for what you believe in, particularly in the face of losing everything, including your liberty.

I don't know that I'd call him a hero either, though. I think I'd call him a man.

He was a man who had a lot to say, a man who achieved a lot, a man who's life is inspiring, a man who left a legacy.

I always thought and still believe that Ali is a " Legend ". An athlete who managed to tell all the overt racists in the US to kiss his black butt and after his ban he came back on top again.
No one ever called him Uncle Tom

No, no one called him an Uncle Tom that you know of but Ali was a Hater of white men when he became a Muslim and he thought races shouldn’t mix.

Ali’s hatred made him turn his back to Malcom X..... a regret Ali took to his own grave....

By 2004 Ali could write that Elijah Muhammad, who had taught him to see white Americans as blue-eyed devils , had accomplished much in terms of black racial pride but that “Malcolm was the first to discover the truth, that colour doesn’t make a man a devil. It is the heart, soul and mind that define a person.”

“Malcolm X was a great thinker and an even greater friend,” wrote Ali. “I might never have become a Muslim if it hadn’t been for Malcolm. If I could go back and do it all over again, I would never have turned my back on him.”

It is obvious that Ali was ignorant about the history, he was a great boxer, become famous by beating people's head in, but beyond that, he wasnt very bright and was used & deceived by Islam.
Ali obviously let his resentment of white people determine his actions and it seems that he join islam as a way to slap white Americans in the face !

The white ancestors of modern Americans mistreated Africans, and their descendents admit this injustice, while Muslims continues to spread the lie that Islam is anti -slavery in Africa, in ISIS territory (Yazidis genocide & s*xual slavery) etc.

It is ironic to see black man abandon Christianity, changing his name and adopt Islam, thinking that white Christians were responsible for slavery, never learning Islam's role in slavery, even to this 21st century this deceptions continues....
The Arabs castrated their slaves, that's why there isn't many African slaves descendent in the Middle East today. Serve Islam by being a slave or serving Islam by converting to Islam, eather way it's slavery.

When people don't know history, no one teaching them in school, they become ignorant of history and that's where dominant religion Islam taking adventige to step in of westerners ignorance....plus people reject to see the truth, until it bites them in the rear.

The boxer Ali was originally named after "Clay " Cassious Marcell Clay who free his slaves, therefor his parents "honoured him " by giving him name of a revolutionary man at the time of slavery ...
He was used by his promoters and the shyster TV commentator Howard Cowell to lime their pockets and the media - created phony image.
Turning to Islam was probably a natural protest "blacklash" against social injustice.

Many people get caught up in the deception of Christianity being a " white race religion " - they forget Egypt is in Africa and most 1st century Christians were from Africa.

Ali also did some decent things, he saved about 20 or more white American reporter's from being sentence to death in Iraq during the Gulf war and Saddam Hussein rules.

while "Muhammed Ali " weren't.

It's ironic that Ali didn't know that Muslims sources say that prophet Muhammed was WHITE, and that both he and his son in law owned black slaves ! ! !

Parkensons disease is no joke ok and i dont think people should speak negatively of someone who was beloved not only in the US but all over the world! Muslim or not he was adored and a class act that no other boxer could follow .He stood for what he believed just like we all do

Neither a Hero nor a Coward. He was a Farrakhan follower who Muslim was fairly new in the States. Farrakhan was looking for figures to pull more followers into the group and Cassius Clay liked the idea since he was approaching other ladies. As everybody saw him talking but doing nothing for the country, he was less than a regular citizen.
