It depends on the context. On the internet nobody can touch you so in theory you should be very open-minded. The best reason to be closed-minded doesn’t apply where there’s nothing which can constituent a danger.

It’s for the real world to decide when open-mindedness is confidence and when it is complacency.

Beyond the obvious scams of course. If you can avoid handing over your bank details you’re pretty much safe online.

The real world is more taxing than simply not handing over your possessions to strangers who ask. Nobody knows the level of open-mindedness best for every walk of life. We have nothing in the world if we don’t have trust, but there are some environments where it pays to be analytical, insecure and suspicious of everyone you meet.

Very few truly open minded people on CS, as can be shown by the lack of tolerance and/or understanding.
People with an open mind discuss rather than belittle or make judgements.

I think that in the current climate it is a pretty broad statement and means so many different things to too many different people. And with all the changes a person might seem open minded in one area and absolutely indifferent in other areas to what some might consider being open minded.
