As a card carrying member of the scientific tribe, to me the best science is carried out by never loosing site of the artistic temperment in most of us. One sees it in elegant theories, thought provoking hypotheses, rigorous experimental and interpretive technique, even statistical data analysis and reporting of findings. There's lot's of art in the best science, in my humble opinion.
