I hate it with a passion,
I can remember being in northern France , coming back from the south.
when we got to where we were getting the boat,,, it started, the like of it i had never seen before
AND there was no place to run and hide,, the lightning strikes were so near and so bad
I had to just sit in the car and wait it out, i was so glad when it was over.

I hate it. Luckily we don't get much over here. But I remember one winter as teens I was walking home with my brother and lightning started my brother got scared and refused to walk home thinking he would get electrocuted. I had to call my mum to pick us up by car!

The most spectacular electric storms i saw were from Cyprus looking out over the mediterranean, they lit up the whole sky for miles, and when a bolt hit the land it was a ferocious explosion. ------ This poll is Archived ------

He was kinda right to be worried - it's scientific fact that if you can hear thunder, you're technically close enough to be struck by lightning. Though you should be extra worried if your hair starts to stand on end!------ This poll is Archived ------

I was worried too but being the big sister I did not want to show fear and just told him "lets run home" which was only ten minutes away rather than have my mum drive to get us! But he was too scared and wanted my mum to get us.------ This poll is Archived ------

After all the years I lived outdoors, I wear clothes and use bedding that keeps me warm, even if it rains on me.

I blame my eldest brother, when I was about 3yrs old and my first memory of Thunder he told me, with each clap, that my neighbors houses were falling down... I was waiting for ours to fall with each clap.... Terrifying for a little one

I grew up in a remote valley on the edge of the old Nyasaland where there were savage storms in the rainy season. Lying in bed, under a mosquito net, hearing the rain hammering down on the tin roof while flashes lit up the room with the simultaneous crash of thunder gave a kid a sense of security.
