aries1234: I love kids the same as the next person and it is a pleasyre when you see a well behaved child in a restaurant, it is the parents faykt in their upbringing of the child. Some nationalities are better behaveed than others, the chinese are a good example. They bring up their children to be respectful. Yes the blame lies firmly with the parents.
Bang on... I was in a restaurant yesterday, mum and dad and three kids eating away at the nest table, talking to each other (not a device in sight), enjoying their food...after the meal, the kids, all three took their plates up to the serving staff and said thank you for their food... The staff were incredulous, as were other patrons in the vacinity... Staff thanked the children for their politeness and I think everyone just felt good after seeing such an unexpected gesture... These ordinary Irish parents and their children were a credit to what active parenting can achieve...

Really: n Not in China they don't, boys can and do run wild, girls are the ones who get punished, often for the boys' naughtiness. I find it heartbreaking the inequality of it all.
About the only time screaming children piss me off is in a theater watching an action packed film with a lot of booming sounds that scare the crap out of them.
What rude people it takes to bring their screaming rug rats to an indoor movie expecting others to tolerate that crying crap. Shoot, I have people bark at me if I whisper something, forget to turn of my cells ringer or fart in a theater.

When you fart in the theatre it's not the awesome explosive noise you make that make people bark at you....... it just might be the seeping smell in a confined space? (I spelt theater theatre 'cos I'm a Brit)
John333333: It seems that people are too politically correct to vote. I love kids; it's just if I go to a restaurant it really spoils the meal if there is a table with kids really SCREAMING. The parents really should have some control or go as it's unfair to the other people in the restaurant. You agree?
100% aggree MOST kids don't scream in a restaurant and such. It's almost always about parents who lack all respect for others, and fail to educate their kids.

I'm a bit puzzled about that one... especially because it's the major 1 kid per family country in the world. Then, is the girl from family Wang, punished for the naughtiness of the boy from family Li ? It sounds unreal
A couple of months ago I went ten-pin bowling and there were some young children screaming and shouting and running around. It was dangerous. There was no parental control. My friend said something in a loud voice to them and they stopped for a minute. A very angry man then appeared and said that if there was a problem we should talk to him. He was sat down 100 feet away drinking and chatting to friends. There was zero supervision. His wife or friend them came over and they were better behaved (although she was more interested in her mobile/cell phone than the kids).
Responsibility seems an alien word to some people. It's great to see kids enjoying themselves (weren't we all kids once upon a time?) but kids do need appropriate care and attention especially doing something where people could get hurt.
epirb: Thankfully mine were never like that , gee what a challenge . I think I would have to had a very keen eye on my boys when were from 8-10 had they seen something like this , option 2 would have been a real risk from them .
Just like Epirb’s, my two kids were never like that either. Think maybe it’s because they knew if they ever did that, they’d die when they get home?

Think the rules have been relaxed a couple of years ago. They can now have up to 2 or 3 ? Maybe another 1 or 2 with their mistress?
I remember an ex-staff of mine from Zhongshan, told me that in rural villages, many in the past defied the one-child policy and whenever there was a ‘spot-check’ or raids, they’d just run to the woods!
Rizlared, please correct my comment if you find any inconsistencies. Thank you
If it is apparent that the parents are doing everything they can to remedy the situation, I am ok with it. Small children and babies can get upset in strange surroundings and the only way they can voice their feelings is to cry. But then there are the parents who believe that their children can do whatever they want to do, whenever they want to do it, and wherever they want to do it. These are not good parents, and they are not helping their children in any way by this lack of discipline.

I think, in rural areas they could have more than one, until they have a boy, because girls don't count. They are seen as a liability. That is why female infanticide was (is?) common practice.

Since 2015, 2 child policy. The oldest kids from that generation are just 3 year old... It does not really come in with the punishing manners (otherwise, we're just talking about punishing babies and super young toddlers, now ... :-) ) Even if 2 kids are now allowed, a majority of families probably wil stick to 1 child. "Customary"
But, what should we imagine about the boys ? Can they do "anything" ? I do not believe so.... (Even if girls are treated more severe)

China is facing another kind of problem for the past few years now. Due to the large number of female infanticide, they are now have more men than women. It’s the women kinda calling the shots now. Women have their pick and choose.
Think this problem has reached an epidemic proportions and those men who can’t find wife in their own backyard had to resort to find them in neighbouring country like Vietnam?
Again, my facts might not be right. I’d need Riz’ help to confirm them

Infanticide , was and IS a much wider crime-phenomenon in India, than in China.... It's loose from 1 child policy. (One child policy is NOT the cause of it !!) It's a severe, bad cultural thing, because girls/woman are still seen as social family trash....

I'm sure your facts are correct
It makes sense. If they kill most girl babies, then there are going to be more adult men than women.

Think I will go back to China under the pretext of visiting my great-grandparents’ long-lost relatives in Shantou!
I know Chinese men like their women to be petite, slim and slender but if they haven’t gotten much choice, they would close one eye and don’t mind MiMi!
