The way I see it - The majority of romantic relationships will have one of the two wearing the trousers and of course making all the decisions, so would they in turn be more responsible for a relationship breaking down and falling apart

Women try to control what you say. But what you say isn’t you it’s even less likely to be you than what you believe is you, and what you believe is less you than what you do as you. Action reveals the most of what you are, belief is in second, and speech is third.
Anyway women like to operate on multiple levels of superficial total control - I.e. speech control. It’s the bit that is least you which she tries to control and women will object strongly to men who believe they are what they say are. The man who claims to be confident or alpha male will be sorely tested she will object strongly to the way that he speaks of himself. The real power exists between the lines and this is why you must never listen too closely to what is officially stated by a woman or take your own words that seriously. What women hate about free speech is the directness and the frequent claiming to be what you’re not.
