bodleing2: Is he still living in Cork? Not spoken to him for a long time. I met him when he came to see Trish, he's a great guy, always enjoyed his banter on here.

jimgi: While that's all well & good,it's incredibly reckless to travel without insurance. Now they need $90,000, and in hindsight, spending $100 dollars on insurance would seem sensible.
No matter. They can open a gofundme page. Everyone that donates can subsidise their stupidity.
Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.
Agreed, it is always sensible to have insurance. Not just for travel, but for your house, your car, your contents.
That said, travel insurance should, in my view, involve weighing up the likely risks involved. I'd always get it now. The one time I went overseas without travel insurance, I contracted cholera. Needless to say, all the times I have purchased travel insurance, I haven't even contracted the a cold.
I'm just not a fan of governments treating adults like children and telling them they must do this, they must do that. People, in my view, have to take some responsibility for themselves.
