rohaan: I don't know why, but the following comes to mind after reading this thread:
(several authors of the same thing--Dolly Parton, Phil McGraw, etc...)
"Try to take the high road. There's less traffic up there, anyway".
so, if you find yourself in an awkward situation such as mentioned, be as courteous as possible. It is less regrettable, at least. JMO
I agree be courteous by saying hello and then immediately turn your back and walk away. It will hurt her feelings but she will get the message. Avoid her at all costs during the party. Make yourself always be talking to somebody else.
Whatever you do don't say.......Hey, howya doing cause that encourages her to tell you how she's doing.
Packersbabe1: What if she wants to hold a conversation, after that?
I don’t know but I doubt it. She txt msgs me, asks a question, i’ll text back with a reply, then she’ll text me again with some kind of shirt comment 18 to 24 hours later closing with ‘ “take care, love you, (name withheld)”

Thanks, secretagent, i like the idea of turning my back after a brief greet but doing that i think is going to get a bad reaction from mostly her friends in the pool. I’m not sure but this might be easier if she had regular clothes on and not in a swimming pool.
unless you're being handcuffed and taken against your will....you don't even have to attend said social gathering....so if you don't want to see the ex....guess what...you don't have to.......

True but its an infrequent swim event thing we both like. So it sounds like I should stay at one end and her at the other.
galrads: Im not sure what blame you are talking about but there are always three sides to every story. His side, her side and the truth.
Only going on what Ewe wrote sheepy! If a guy tells me an ex 'owns his heart' then 100% he hasn't moved on and he's blaming her for ( for example) feeling inadequate and not knowing how to behave around her ! “Above all, don't lie to yourself. The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to a point that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases to love.” ? Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov
But Fyodor was a Russian and well, we know how you guys about Russians so from dear ole Eleanor ( Roosevelt)
" No one can make you feel inferior without you give your permission "
galrads: Ok, I wont wear a speedo and handicap myself. Be worth it. I’ll stay in the deep end; she will have the shallow end. I still have to walk past her on the water
Wow ... you can walk on water ?
Shhhhhh cos the last bloke who did that got himself nailed up !!!
