I actively dated someone for over a year and at some point we realized we never took any photos of us separate or together. What does this mean? Significant?
I read this on the internet. Not sure if it fits here though.... “ If you are in the image, you become more removed from the original moment — it is as if you are an observer watching yourself doing something outside yourself. Intriguingly, if you are not in the image, you return to the first person, reliving the experience through your own eyes, and you remember more.”
I think neither one of you took the relationship as something you could see lasting to have a future.
If you guys wanted to preserve the relationship you would have taken lots of photos to look back on 20+ years down the road.
People take pictures of dogs, children, wives/husbands, friends, Christmas party, baptism, weddings, etc. All things to look at in a picture in the future and say.......remember when we did this or that.
I have never been much of a selfie person....I used to take lots of pictures as a kid with my camera but I stopped being interested in pictures somewhere along the way and now I seldom take any....
Under the influence of marketing there's a new normal in watching yourself like a hawk and you're not doing it. Society has retained what is truly important about the bourgeoisie which is the standing on ceremony. I'd depict it as middle class in name only.

I suspect it only means you don't have a nutcase friend who takes such pictures and shares them with you. I suppose if you were nutcases you'd be taking duo selfies.

So, why did we never photograph ourselves?
