My Two Sons 30 and 39, are coming over to do some Fireworks that Day with my two Grandkids, probably will do some outdoor grilling that Day...
( I don't think most other most Countries acknowledge it )

If you're in NY then you must be someplace way up or downstate, because the highways in the tri-state area are going to be jammed. They've been jammed for a couple of weeks and the holiday weekend will make them worse. All the yuppies from the city will be heading out here. OT: I wanted to travel up to see my daughters in Connecticut but too many restrictions on the ferries. I pick one.

Mikey is intelligent, he gives short answers and yet is funny... no problem with that. Better than Pedro making 5000 useless threads and trolls twisting words around of anything anyone says. When I stated roads will be empty on July 4 it definitely isn't in inner cities where I am now and they will be less populated than say for example I95 or parts of I-15 in Utah which for personal reason I hate. Geeez... the idiots on here.

You said you will be cruising on empty roads and your profile says you are in NY. Anyway, I live out in the suburbs and nowhere near NYC. The roads out here will be jammed, both highways and secondary roads.

Although it says NY in my profile I won't be cruising in that area... many left and will probably stay away for some time. Where I'm at now is somewhat quiet and hope it will be also on the 4th. I may just stay at home...lots to do. Enjoy your holiday.

Indiana has backed off from letting all restrictions go....the state next to it Illinois is now saying that you come here you need to hunker down....the USA needs some celebratory time but in a safe environment....time for BYOB

I agree, everyone needs to be quite cautious of where they go, and what they do just for safety's sake. This Virus is NEW, and I really don't think "Anyone" knows the final history, or outcome of what it is capable of in the long run...

Retired so just another day and weekend. When I was a kid, mom and I would sit on the cliff and watch them all the way up river from the city. Did it sometimes except the skeeters make it hell to sit.
Went a few times to that city to watch on the grass by the tracks where they hold them.
Or to the other town and sat along the river.
Mostly I hate the 4th. What it means is idiots at large. Boaters down the river shooting them off on the sandbars half the night. Worry in dry years for fires. Jerks shooting them off around the area.
Tourist clogging the roads and stores and towns. This year hasn't slowed them down at all. The town up river is a major tourist trap. Water parks and resorts, so avoid like the plague in summer.
Pests on the river with boom boxes, pavilions, screaming and hollering half the night.
