Just a heads up: Most people on this site wouldn't know what a Zoomer is or if they did they wouldn't use the term Bunch of old heads here. Even the ones younger than myself, have been here much longer. Some over 10 years. Some are only on this site and maybe Facebook
Sure is nice to see some fresh blood in this place. Good luck to you and follow your instincts.
Replace Zoomer by Skyper, Skyper-for-business, Google meeter and you'll cover far more of the market. We use Skype for business with camera off as a default. The bandwidth saved is then used for powerpoint presentations.

And then some have been using it for family reunions when several generations are scattered around the globe
Oxycodone: Just don’t send the invite out to the wrong people, and end up in a completely different meeting
Not if you use the log in name followed by a password which takes you onto a 'holding space' from which the host accepts you into the meeting ... Very safe this way ...

Absolutely, it’s just funny when it happens. Expecting to see certain people, yet not.
I know of a few it happened to during the first lockdown when people went zoom mad because it allows 45 minutes free.
Nothing like real social interaction which people have missed more than we new a few months ago. Not everyone is cut out for remote working as it can feel isolated. I like it.

I remember the 'zoom chaos' when lockdown started ... must have been very stressful for those setting out to have work meetings
Absolutely nothing can replace social interaction but working from home has many advantages

serene56: I'd prefer not to have meetings at all but at least with Zoom I can remain in my home office and have my trusty work colleague by my side My dog Jack
I have two best work colleagues aswell......my two Jackies. They remind me when I need to take a break, which means lots of huggies, kisses and a lot of go fetch. I throw their favourite ball and they wait for me to fetch it..... :
We use Mattermost, mostly because most conversations are too important to host on a third-party server. Plus Mattermost is the most feature-complete self-hosted app with better security for internal use including added features. You can also use Zapier for reminders. This is strictly for more personal communications and not the tighter official conferencing video software.
