What I don't understand is men in the US/EU contacting me (or women halfway around the world). They must have a gazzilion perfectly ok women on their own doorstep yet they're contacting a woman in the remotest part of Ireland?? Eh why??

The reason is very simple, blathin! Those gazzilion women just don't like 'em or want those men! I thought that you were a smart woman, blathin! I have done the whole move to his neck of the woods before...was always taken for granted.
I don't blame the distance I blame the now insignificant other.
I'm not sure I want to be so far away from my large family, that will be ever increasing.
The only relationship I'll consider in future is if they live in the same county or one of the neighbouring counties.
And if thay never comes then so be it....but the excitement of what's around the corner has me intrigued enough not to fully shut the door...but certainly shutting it on here.
I'll meet new people on my travels around Ireland fingers crossed.
