This was brought home to me when my neighbor collapsed with a heart attack, although rusty I applied CPR. The ambulance arrived a half-hour later, the Para-Medic coached me over the phone, 1,2,3,4--1,2 3,4, compressions, the ambulance arrived and the Para-Medic took over but after 30 mins pronounced him passed. My question is do you feel you should learn CPR techniques or not?
Fair play to you Tom, sorry to hear though.. Yes everyone should know how to administer CPR, I have a cert meself, although some will panic in that kind of situation..

Good for you NTT, I just did what I could as none else was available, I have signed up for a refresher course in the New Year,
I wish I could do CPR but I know that the person needs to be on a hard surface for the compressions to work. I have two knee replacements which means I have plastic and steel in my knees. It is very painful if I try to kneel on them. Even if I tried to do it bending over from a standing position it wouldn't work and would be painful for my back.
Do you know how to do CPR on babies and small children? From what I have heard it is done with two fingers and not the whole hand.

Years ago... I didn't bother with refresher course for adults or children. There were lawsuits here from the survivors. Training included protective mouth pieces, to guard against Aids, they we were supposed to carry around. I am not carrying a mouth piece, disposable gloves and certification card around with me.
But of course Aids doesn't exist anymore, right We have a new boggie man and a semi permanent mouth piece of our own ... Called a mask. And we can't save lives and social distance simultaneously.

This much is true, I must admit I broke the 2-meter rule, good point .

So sorry for your experiance. I do believe that cpr should be learned. The thing is some people are not good at this type of thing. I ended up taking care of both my parents in their elder years. People tried to make my sister out to be bad for her lack of participation. She participated till she no longer could. Some people are unable to do some task in life no matter how important the task is. It does not make them bad. Now with that being said. I have done cpr. I brought the person back to life. I live with that. I believe it would of been better to of just let them slip peacefully away. How does one know if we are doing a service or a disservice. It was good for the family, it gave them the opportunity to say their good byes. I learned a lot that day. I worry now if I am needed to apply cpr again I might be more hesitant. Not meaning to. I reacted that day. Will I take time to think next time? That could possibly cost someone their life. I will never forget looking in the hospital room and seeing what I had done That will be a ghost with me forever
