Youcannow: Let me ask you another question.
Do you think our governments are concerned with the public’s wellbeing, or are they worried about the affect of their respective national health systems crumbling at the sudden influx of covid patients?
Well the two are synonymouslaugh laugh laugh laugh laugh

Mercedes_00: We won't be getting rid of anything. Stop thinking we're going to get rid of the virus Stop thinking the vaccine is a cure
The virus will eventually disappear as it mutates, if past history is anything to go by.

Experts say that omicron variant is the beginning of the end of COVID-19.

That’s not to say another one won’t hit us in the future .

If that were true , then maybe the government should lead by example & not party when the rest of us were self isolating & missing out on seeing loved ones during last years Christmas festivities!!

bodleing2: What Dr John Campbell says about Gibralta in todays update is quite interesting.

Thanks Bod, that was interesting.

I would have liked to see some data relating to S.A. hospitalisations, vaccinated vs unvaccinated, mind.

If being vaccinated makes little difference in terms of severity where Omicron infections are concerned, then we perhaps have another layer of information with respect to making our own individual choices.

Youcannow: As I said previously, if we want to get rid of the virus , make it completely to vaccinate everyone & that includes young children .
Why are governments not insisting on this ?
If the vaccine is so safe & has no long term implications , why isn’t this happening & the so called pro vacciners not vaccinating their children ?
As for Sweden we had a big scandal here about the bird vaccine and a lot of children now falls a sleep constantly. We are very reluctant to vaccinate children after that. To costly for government to care for these children. As for adults most Swedes are sleep walkers anyway so no big change there after vaccine!

Youcannow: I think you e missed the point .
The lady was saying that the Sputnik vaccine is more effective. I’m giving figure that prove otherwise.
I didn't say it is more effective. I said it has longer period between vaccination. It boost antibodies for 6 month Others will give you immunity only for 3 -4 month.

Immunization is not forced on people in Russia. V.V Putin is absolutely against it.
I think the reason is the more you force people to do something the more chances you will get a new Revolution in a country. Russian people do not like to be forced. It is cultural

I have never been under the illusion that any government was concerned about the welfare of those who voted it into power. Take UK as an example; until 1914 Brits had a lot of freedoms that were taken for granted but these have all been whittled away since then. The House of Commons is an elite club whose members are in the game for their won enrichment and the odd individual who wants to make a difference is powerless.

Not much different in US and, since 1945, all the administrations have shown an appalling contempt for ordinary citizens with the Biden one being utterly reprehensible.

As regards "respective national health systems crumbling", I don't think that was ever a serious consideration at the top levels where the needless hysteria was pumped out to the public. What did infinitely more harm around the world was the ongoing devastation caused by the lockdowns. I wonder how many deaths resulted from the cancellation of scheduled surgeries, oncology treatments etc.

Coronavirus was a godsend for our government.
All those who died as a result of not being treated due to pandemic is saving millions , if not billions for our government in NHS treatment.

The Swedish people were always anti social, even before any pandemic , so it wasn’t really necessary to enforce a lockdown there .

I suppose , no government has come out of this virus situation smelling of roses & the USA is no exception.
In my opinion , Trump would still be in power had it not been for the pandemic .

We've not saved a penny. The pandemic has accelerated the sale of kids into Chinese concentration camps. Inflation is what ravaged finance looks like. A spendthrift aging population choosing to kill itself would have been the ideal solution but we have to remember the ten commandments. Honour thy father and thy mother
