I don't think you have the same rival in younger men as older women do with younger women. Cougars are not what most older women would desire to be. And "Toyboys" are very often men rejected by women their own age. They want more than just a man to keep them company in old age , hence the creation of the cougar .
I would argue that cougar stems from exclusively from 60 is new 40. Immaturity for your age and pretending age is younger than what it is so that you don't feel like a hasbeen. Toyboy is just one of many anti-aging products she doesn't even like him.
