Based upon how one is/was socialized, the inclination to date within or outside of one's race could be either 'strong' or even 'non-existent'. Some persons may be more adventurous than others, whilst some may be concerned about what others may say/not say about their choosing to date outside of their race.
What say you? Honest opinions and experiences are most welcome:D
Up to the age of 20 I lived in a black neighborhood with my parents. We were the only white family in that neighborhood. We got along well with the neighbors and I walked to school with a black girl. One day I was sitting on the steps talking to a neighbor across the street. I guess I was around 10 or 12 years old. The man was probably 10 years older. We just talked and laughed. We were in perfect view of everybody. When I walked across the street to go home as I got inside my house my father took a belt to me and beat me so badly that I was hanging onto my dresser. He was furious that I was sitting with a black man......a man from the neighborhood....a man that he waved too and chatted with sometimes.
As I grew up to adulthood it never entered my mind to date a black man.

Oh my...I'm so sorry that you had to endure that SA
Didi7: It's also very unfair that men have never/seldom had to experience such a dreadful thing, just for chatting with a girl outside of their race...:(
Are you saying you would like more men to suffer under the whip Didi?

The murder of Emmett Till, or the execution of Edward Earl Johnson ring any bells?
Black men have been projected as an animalistic threat to white women as a means of control and subjugation for centuries.
I forgot to answer your question which is pertinent in the current (and long overdue) climate of social ferment and hopefully, paradigm shift.
Yes, I have dated outside my race, but given my mixed heritage, it's improbable that I'll ever date completely within it.
There have been cultural differences with everyone I've dated, even if we have looked roughly the same. I enjoy that, but I grew up with, and come from a long line of mixed unions. Difference is familiar territory as far as I'm concerned.

Nice...you may be one of the fortunate few, I think:-)
My Jamaican girlfriend used to ask me when I was giving her pleasure "Hey Irish!" she called me Irish "Do I taste sweeter than those while gals?" I remember the accent as I type , I would say "yes dear." but she never did, she was sweet but I think all women are sweet..
