Came close. I walked the central Camino de Santiago in Portugal. I didn't plan for it well enough, Took me longer to complete than most. Wish I would have taken the coastal route.
I lived in Spain from 2006 until 2020 but we owned the apartment since 1999 and used to go there 3 times per year, split our weeks holidays up. Spain is a beautiful Country. Us Brits just seem to associate Spain with Benidorm, like many Brits associate the north as in Blackpool, Morcambe and Southport as in tourism. We have the beautiful Lake District here in the Uk. Spain has lots of History just like the Uk. Over the years, I've been to Valencia, Almeria, a province within Andalusia region, down to Gibralta. It's quite difficult to explain the regions and provinces along with the Cities or Towns. The Spanish people are so friendly, they are very family orientated. They go out on Sunday afternoons, all the family go to lunch at a Spanish Restaurant. It really is lovely to see them. In the summer months, the kids all go to a park to play football, they have lots of parks for the kids, they don't seem to hang about on the streets like they do in the Uk. It's more multicultural in Spain than it is in the Uk from what I've experienced living there. I will never have a bad word to say about Spain and before anyone asks why I came back to the Uk, that's my business. My lovely friend that I'd known for 15ys, had no family in Spain, I had a set of his keys as he was always locking himself out. He was a lot older than me and had serious health problems. I was back in the Uk when his daughter messaged me to ask if I was his interpreter? Obviously I wasn't, it was the Spanish woman that we both had and she had the same name as me. The Guardia had to break in but unfortunately he was found deceased on his lounge floor In Spain, you have to be cremated within 2 or three days or you have to pay mega bucks to keep the body. They don't have graveyards in Spain, if you want to be buried, they are brick buildings above ground.
Sorry for the long tedious post. I just wanted to give a bit of an incite regarding Spain..........
People are nice there. Their food is delicious. They know how to party and dance. And the police issent out on the streets there: to fine as much as they can: so their goverment can do better. Ignoring a red light, a one way street or forgetting to muzzle my dog. Gave me only a friendly warning. When i parked in a non parking zone, with a in spain registraded car, the owner who borrowed me his car...got payed back the fine. After he explaned i did not understand Spanish.
I've mostly been to Spain, all around Spain. Such a rich and diverse culture where you get to watch the whole of civilization dissolve like plains into a desert. Where did it end? Nobody knows exactly. You can't put a line on it although they're willing to give it a go in Catalonia. We don't know what a north south divide is by comparison.

quite agree with you, i have been to a few different places and enjoyed the difference culture from area to area Loved them all but doubt i will go again as of the virus and the airports etc. Plus would have to change passport these days and unfortunately travelling alone is not good these days. Or maybe that is just a feeling because i am older.
I travel the length and breadth of our country now and see places i did not know existed.

There are always do overs after this pandemic. Will it be the same? I don't think so, our lives are forever change.

Yes! Catalonia wanted there own "Independence" in Spain. Unless you have lived there for a number of years, not just having holidays over there. Come back to me when you've actually lived there, and not from a two week holiday

I miss Spain so much but we have to do what's best for us. That's life but I will defend Spain forever...
That's were your'e wrong CC. Spain was ruled by Muslims before the Spanish Christians took over again. Hence the Christians and Moors. Maybe you should look back in the History regarding the Christians and Moors before you spout your mouth off with something you don't even know. Typical bloody American

Do I since a hint of hostility towards your American cousins across the pond ?
Generally I stay away from the overcrowded Mediterranean coasts during summer. Last time in Valencia was in May (2019). Last fortnight in July, I spent in Asturias and Galicia, (the north-west). The Camino de Santiago is a good idea for a hike in July. On the 25th they celebrate the saint.
yes very beautiful country and people, especially marbella but unfortunately too many Mossad agents (Israeli intelligence) running around and annoying people as if its their own country....

Really? How do they 'annoy people' ... asking for a friend ...
I've worked in Spain a few times, usually for around a month at a time. My favourite place was just outside Figueres, Catalonia, I stayed there for two months. Also spent some time at a Buddhist centre not far from where Sel lives, beautiful countryside.

Selenite: Ok come on! Spit it out! What is it about Bod that you find threatening? Is it because he's fitter and more intelligent?
I don’t feel threatened in the slightest . Certainly not in the intelligence department. It’s nice that you are defending a 70 man who by his own delusional admission, is looking for a 45 yo lady , so I guess you’re out of the reckoning.

Can't believe you answered my half tongue in cheek post
