It's summer...the weather is great...some women are trying on swimwear and sunbathing topless...while others are getting sunburn....some are smiling...some are chatty...some are joyous...while others are complaining about the sun....their makeup running and looking for a man to blame
Are women...really happier in the summer...or is it just a mirage
I love the summer but I don’t tan because I’m a natural blonde I just get burned so I lather myself in sun cream and sit under my parasol. I have extra energy when the sun comes out though so it’s all good.

Yes to all your questions.
I'm from New Jersey where winter used to be a couple feet of snow, blizzards, power outages and shoveling the driveway before I walked to school so my father to get to work
And I really did walk to school in deep snow. No school buses. No getting a ride to school. Put your boots on and huff it out and do the same thing when you go back home.
Christmas was a white Christmas. My father put colored lights all over the house, Santa in the front yard, Rudolph on the roof. And it was always freezing cold when he was on a ladder running lights up and down the chimney which went from the roof to the ground. That's what I was raised in.
I watch a show on tv called Highway Thru Hell that takes place in Canada. It is about tow trucks and rotators getting 18 wheelers out of wrecks in deep snow. Did I tell you that I love snow

Many years at school just after the summer half term holiday the science teacher said to one of the girls that she wasn't a blond as they don't get a sun tan as you have got.

I'm just loving the Summer months back in the Uk but I don't sit in the sun anymore. Having suffered from skin cancer twice, even with coating myself with sun cream. People think that putting sun cream on will protect them all day long. It just doesn't work that way. Some people brag about getting sun burnt, their skin looks like lobsters, they peel. When you get sun burnt and go red, it's like putting a hot iron on your skin. it's a burn. I never went red or got sunburn when I lived in Spain. I always had sun protection on and sat in the shade but I still got skin cancer People don't realise just how strong the sun is.
This comment is not directed at you Coldheaven. Just trying to make people aware of how strong the sun can be

Putting sunscreen on your body does protect you from UVA rays but it also is a barrier to keep your body from absorbing Vitamin D from the sun. I know this from my own experience. I'm never in the sun longer than the time it takes to walk to my car. A recent blood test showed that I was very low on Vitamin D and had to get a prescription for it.
"Vitamin D is a nutrient your body needs for building and maintaining healthy bones. That's because your body can only absorb calcium, the primary component of bone, when vitamin D is present. Vitamin D also regulates many other cellular functions in your body. Its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and neuroprotective properties support immune health, muscle function and brain cell activity."

I agree with you SA . Some people that suffer from psoriasis undergo treatment which involves UVB. I'm not up to date on these things. I'd just rather stay out of the sun to be honest. I just don't want to have the cancer cut out of my body again, leaving scars which I could have avoided if I'd have know better. We all live and learn I guess
I never try to be out in the sun more than for 20 minuets during the middle of the day as this the recommended amount of time without suntan lotion on even if the feeling of the sun and air on my naked body is so good.
Not according to the suicide rates they're not and I think what finishes them off is the sense that you're supposed to be happy because it's sunny. But the new dawn fades. And heat is especially oppressive to those who labour if we were agricultural workers midday would be bedtime and I think it is this summer as the holiday that wasn't. To be expected to be happier in spite of the oppressive condition is probably what finishes people off.
