horror movies are created to scare and i think women fear more than men overall...cause women are more emotional and reactionary than men...but also cause men can understand how to hold back most fears and take them on the chin
once upon a time...men had to be the protectors of women...put themselves on the line to hunt for women and keep women safe of all dangers...so it's part of a man's inner self...to want to protect women and sacrifice for women...
When I was a teen, I used to watch old horror movies on the TV in the wee hours of the morning. Now that time is taken up by infomercials. Oh, the horror!

I don't remember what network it was on but they had a Chilller Theater in the wee hours of the morning. This was the introduction to it.

Some of those late fifties and early sixties horror movies are so bad that they're classics. There were a few good ones. Very few. Carnival Of Souls was shot for 33,000 dollars.
and it depends on the type of horror movie the kinda where there is alot of physical fear then there are the one that are more mental. then u also got the fictional and semi fictional(where if it hasnt happened is possible)

The semi fictional and possible movies are the best! "The Andromeda Strain" from 1971 is my favorite. A lot of suspense in that one. Horror movies never bothered me, I even thought "The Exorcist" was cheesy. I enjoy good suspense, Alfred Hitchcock, style. "The Birds", I thought was chilling.
Some of these true crime programs, what people really do to each other is horror enough for me.
Given your poor results on the poll, you left out the majority opinion: "Neither or most." Not atypical of a professional survey, which is why surveys lie.
