I have been looking at decorations for the yard in the stores...I gave all of mine away when I moved...

Christmas for me is a time of year when a great number of people have time off work and so it's easier to organise gatherings with loved ones and friends. And if we can share good food and a few hugs, singing and a few games and some catching with one another's life, even better

Yes didi. When you work in the restaurant/ catering /takeaway industry everyone has been saving up their money to splash out at Xmas so our business rakes in the money at this time.------ This poll is Archived ------

That may be so Karl, but I think more people get excited about Christmas than they do about Halloween and Thanksgiving. Not everybody is interested in Halloween, besides. What's to "afford" JT? Good food, family, and fun don't cost that much. 
You seem to be a good cook, so I'm sure you could prepare Christmas 'fare' on a budget.
