Can't remember the last time I had the iron out. Nowadays, a blast of the hairdryer is usually enough to shift stubborn creases from my socks and y-fronts and besides, shell suits tend to benefit from a crumpled look. Are modern, low temperature detergents and fabric technology consigning the laborious chore of ironing firmly into the past or is a neatly pressed, wrinkle free appearance still important to some? Had the iron out several months ago to set an iron-on patch on a pair of jeans. But that's after a several-year period of no ironing, and wondering why I even kept my iron. Also used the steam setting to steam something for a project. Just call me MacGyver. Used to iron my uniform shirts to freshen the creases, then went to sewn-in. But even sewn-in occasionally needed a light ironing to get rid of stray wrinkles between the creases. I once accidentally set my dryer wrong; had to take the shirts to the cleaners after the terrible wrinkles laughed at my ironing attempts. It looked like I slept in my clothes!
For me it was about two weeks ago. I have a couple outfits that look better when ironed. I really don't mind ironing I iron table cloths etc. I was sad a while back my iron broke I replaced it and am quite happy with the new one.
I had to check my laundry cupboard. I still have a steam one. Used to belong to a Barbershop Chorus and had to iron the costumes I wore for that. That chorus folded several years ago. Did you see the picture that the CS Tweeter do of you, Pippa and Jeannene, Breda?
