12 years. I know I've been an 18 year old dating a 30 year old and a 32 year old dating a 20 year old.

I had a date with a man much younger, than I am. Then a lot of men, who approach me in order to date, are much older. I found that we don't have much in common in both cases.
Besides that, I felt too old with a young man and too young with an old man. Not especially comfortable feeling.
Though, there is indeed a certain advantage with youth: he was able to lift me on swings. I wouldn't dare to ask an old man to do that out of fear him's getting a cardiac arrest on the site.
Someone close to my age, in the same stage of life, with the same level of hormonal activity - that feels comfortable to start with.

Honestly, appearance has a lot to do with it for, I know it shouldn’t be that way, but a part of me, once to connect on an emotional level, which creates a stronger bond, I’m 36, so I would date someone in 20-45 years of age.

If someone loves you so deeply then nothing matters, you have no choice but to love. But if I choose first, then +5, -5 is comfortable.
Dad was 25 years older than mom. Problem was she aged to match him and when he died she was 55 and thought 75. Her life ended when she still had lots of time she could have used rather than sit being a widow.
