Gillingan's island is an old American tv show about a boat and it's crew who are ship wrecked...I think Gillingan is the skipper character....we never had it in the UK.

Gilligan's Island holds the record for the longest running syndicated TV show in the history of television, and has NEVER been off the air since 1964! Currently, you can watch the show every day, and is shown over 15 times a week.

Yeah, all the reruns are on TV still. Recently in the Sunday newspaper magazine section, there was a write up about the main stars of the show and were pictured as they look now and the feelings they have towards the show. I didn't save the write up though and don't recall much more of it. I do recall that Ginger said that she hated playing the part she had and hated wearing the outfits she was fitted with. I believe the captain and Mr. and Mrs. Howell are no longer alive.

Precisely why I was amazed she'd never heard of it, even across the pond.
In response to: An English girl said I could call her Ginger, and I told her she could call me Gilligan....She had no clue what I was talking about.

The mate was a mighty sailin' man, The Skipper brave and sure, Five passengers set sail that day For a three hour tour.
A three hour tour.
The weather started getting rough, The tiny ship was tossed. If not for the courage of the fearless crew, The Minnow would be lost.
