Where I live we don't have to sort it. However, at work sometimes I will drop off discarded items at a city drop off site. I don't go nuts with it though~

I don't recycle my trash. I do reuse anything that's reusable. I used to separate aluminum cans, but that's a pain in the butt, not worth the space it takes to store them. We don't have recycling pick up here, so taking it to a recycling center would mean an extra trip, kinda defeats the purpose.

Yep I recycle as much as I can.. in fact I just came back from the recycle place.. pitch black.. pouring rain.. standing there trying to put it all into the different (giant) containers.

We do recycle where I live but 7 miles away the people don't recycle. All their stuff goes out in the garbage. Am I really making a difference?

Just throw the alum cans in the driveway and when they're all flattened from the cars they will take up only about 10% of the space.
I recycle everything, always and wind up with only about 1 small bag of garbage per week. The people downstairs dont recycle anything and they produce about 5 large bags of garbage in the same time frame. I also use up a lot of junk mail and cereal boxes for starting fires in my wood stove.

yes i recycle anything & everything i can.
i even bring my own cloth bags to the grocery store so i don't bring home the plastic ones.
