This is funny; its an idea for a thread that came into my mind a few days ago..
Nothing puts the shivers up my spine quicker, than when I see a post on here, or I hear a spoken sentence start off with "With the greatest of respect...". Its like saying, in the terms of a legal matter "Without Prejudice"..
9 times out of 10, the following statement is exactly the opposite of being respectful. Some folk seem to think that by putting that at the beginning of a sentence, it gives them free rein to say what the heck they like, because of course they mean it with "respect"...
I think the idea of respect is now sadly lacking in the world. In all its forms. Im not sure how this has come about really, but it is very sad to observe.
saseez: Respect has to be earned its hard to love with out it...and it is rare to come by these days....
I do my best to respect others, and only ask to be respected in return. I will say it's one of the main cornerstones to any relationship, along with trust and communication.

LOL...Petal, you made me think of my days in the Army when we could say anything we wanted to someone of higher rank, so long as we preceded it with "With all due respect..."
Petal . . . . . well said. I have to agree with you on all you've mentioned. It's certainly easy to see through the smoke an mirrors simply in the arrangement of the words. ty for your ideas:) cheers
I think if I were to really respect myself as I should I would endure the hell of quitting smoking today. I must not like myself very much cause I am smoking like a chimney.

Hi Dru good thoughts, do you give immediate respect or earned with someone as time goes by. Myself i give immediate an allow it to take it's own course in the friendship. :)

Immediately, I will make some changes after I finish my coffee Respect isn't as easy as it sounds. Thanks for the ideas
sassy49senior: Very good thread Bentlee, I see so much disrespect in the world now that it just makes me wonder if we really do know what the word means.
I was brought up to respect others and through the years and some trials have also learned how to respect myself.
respect ...hmmmm many have read me pots on this before ...but i will again as this thread allows me to do so. Respect is something you can never recieve untill you understand you have to give it away first...then and only then will you get respect.... thats right folks you have to give respect in order to GET respect.......thank you ....I will be here all week...

I gave away something that I think will help me respect myself and other (actually I taped it to my moniter with a big NO on it). I don't know what I am going to do in an hour but I am determined not to disrespect anyone today. NO smoking!!!!!!!

If you have Cream of Tarter, put a 1/2 tsp in a glass of orange juice every morning for a week to a week and a half. It flushes the old nicotine out of your system, which gets you over the cravings faster. Warning, though, you'll pee brown for a while as it flushes out...but after a week, week and a half of this, no more cravings.
I just had a friend tell me of this remedy the other day, and according to him it's worked well for him and a couple of others.
Oh, Cream of Tartar is a spice...if you don't have it, go get it today and use it as soon as you get home, then every morning for the remainder of the week or so.
