I grew up in the age of Sesame Street and The Electric Company. I've never wanted to harm the characters from those childrens shows but characters like Barney and the Tela Tubbies are just weird. I think I would have even thought that had I seen them when I was very young.
I think you're right about how children change as they grow but I gotta say that process continues through adulthood and often changes us in positive ways. For example, I remember when I was in my teens and even as a young adult I thought that Mr. Rodgers was a freak but as I have grown older I realize just how smart the man was. And appreciate the things he did for a whole lot of children. I think we all just go through those stupid, goofy changes.

i have nothing but respect for the late Mr. Rogers i hated him at won point but then i grew up iguess is the best way to put it
My neigbors dog humps the barney doll about 20 times a day and the chicken at the ball game already smeared barney and beat the living daylights out of him on TV, I think I have to say I will let others like "Bear" the dog have their way with barney, that is enough for me. haha

I used to bring posters of Barney to Rocky Horror so we could deface them publicly!
Yes with real people like Morgan Freeman. Barney at first was only with the kids, when the grown-ups came he vanished I hated that.
