I realize that in the agreement for Texas to enter the union there is a clause allowing Texas to seceed when it chooses to do so. But you can bet the US wouldn't respect the agreement. And Texas is in no position to force the issue. Unless the US allows it to happen, it won't happen. And I cannot imagine the US just allowing it.

So it's essentially a pipe dream.

Oxtox: the level of ignorance displayed in this thread speaks volumes about the low quality of education in Texas. the misspelled thread title alone is sufficient evidence of this. the majority of comments also support the assertion.

ok, class, let's review. there is NO provision for secession in the Texas constitution.

it's really amusing when people just make crap up and then expect others to think that you're making an 'intelligent' contribution to the discussion. please...try using the internet, you might avoid embarrassing yourself.

there is, however, language in the state constitution that allows for Texas to become five states.

isn't learning fun?

There is also a provision in the Texas Constitution that says that we have the right to a republic form of government, if we cannot get that we have the right to get rid of the government and form another. professor

There are also movements in Vermont and Hawaii to secede, may be more states joining in before long.

lovermonster2: you'all should study up on your history. vermont was the first county to join the united states of america . it wasnt one of the 13 colonies or original states and vermont has a right to succeed from the union. because of that. when texas was made part of the union. they made sure texas DID NOT have a right to succeed . so if all you texans dont want to be part of the united states either leave america or move to vermont and succeed from the union. if you can get the vermonters to put it on the ballot. there have been times whether to remain in the union or not was on the ballot. but was always soundly defeated.

Check at , and open your eyes. professor

I doubt if any state legislature, including that of Texas, will ever vote to seceed.

What I do think could possibly happen a couple of years down the road is that a few nuts will declare themselves to be the Texas Revolutionary Army and start violence that will be met with even greater violence and will get a lot of innocent people killed.

I CAN easily imagine a Yougoslavia or Lebanon type sectarian bloodbath that would generalize across the US and even within the military, resulting in the UN eventually sending in Peacekeeping troops to occupy the entire nation.

In fact I think that might be exactly what the NWO folks (including Rick Perry) intend to engineer.

There has to be a motor to drive the domestic violence that they have been preparing the Fema camps for.

A tough question. I have no set feelings on it. Either way, I am a Texan and always will be a Texan. The first line of business should be to get rid of those who thinks the good people of this state are dunb and stupid (sounds familiar). It wouldnt matter if there was something in our constitution or not if the citizens of Texas decides to part ways with the united states it will happen if we want it to. I lived in Texas all of my life and therfore I am also an American. I proudly served my country and fought for the freedoms that we stand for today. If push come to shove I would have to side with the Texas agenda.

I have to agree about perry, "worthless" is putting it lightly. If he stays much longer they will be calling this state Taxes instead of Texas. If people really want to do something try voting out all of congress and senate members and start clean, including our governor rick perry.

Texas has no current legal right to leave.

If it did it would be the most illiterate English Speaking Nation in Western Hemisphere and way behind Europe as well.

We would also be the most obese nation.

Forget it!
