With all due respect, can somebody explain why Malta seem to be the hottest topic in the EU forums?!?!?
Are you all drained of any original ideas for new threads? If that's the case, take a break from the site or better still, try to connect to somebody, after all that's the whole point of this site!!
Btw, that currently over here its not hot at all, far from it!!!
And mindfful, thanks for taking a different stand from some other posters.
PS By other posters, I'm referring to some other posts in different threads where Malta is the subject.
I think many people are probably envious because you guys seem to be the only ones who get to meet up regularly and actually have "real fun" as opposed to just "cyber fun" ...
Hmmm, I was wondering that myself and I feel that many potential posters sadly stay away from the EU forum for this reason. It becomes very boring after a while to constantly read about the goings on in Malta. No offence intended.
However, nice to see that someone from Malta has picked up on this also!
I did vote though but I won't divulge which category I opted for!
That's one of the advantages of living in a small country. Its easy to set up a date and place for a get together.
Btw, everybody can try to organise a local get together, at least its worth giving it a try.
Personally, I've been to the Dublin do last October, and I wasn't the only foreigner, far from it. Am still considering if I will attend the one in January, haven't made up my mind yet.
The problem most probably is related to the number of Maltese residents that post in the forums.
If other nationalities don't participate, the situation won't change. Try getting other people to post in the forums if possible, maybe by starting new threads that might attract new posters.
Ladies, I'll soon be off, as the batteries of my laptop and myself are both draining at a fast rate.
I dunno - seems there are an awful lot of people living in Spain........and several post in the EU forums. Why don't people post about Spain?
Answers please (on the back of a postage stamp )
I am also fed up about posts about the huge country of Malta - large countries like Malta should not get lots of posts just because they are so big. Big is not always better. There should be more posts about cute LITTLE places like Gozo and, ummmmmmmmmm, maybe Spain too?
No idea how I made that, I just pressed the create a poll button btw, I created this thing just for fun, after I saw only boring polls on the int sites....
Heinz, excuse me for my first post in this thread, but lately everybody seems to be picking up on my country. To be honest, I felt that it was getting boring getting another post on the same topic.
To be honest, its in my character that I accept a prank or comment once, twice and even thrice, but more than that and I don't see it as a joke anymore.
Yes, the Malta mystery here on cs... I often asked myself why so many people from Malta are here.
Perhaps the reason for the malta majority in the eu forums is very simple, only Malta´s and the UK´s official language is English, the rest of the eu speaks different languages and only that Engish left over from school many years ago..... Here (in Germany) hundreds of people signed in cs, but actually only 3 or 4 of them are in the forums, either native English speakers or they lived in the US or UK before....
You have a valid point regarding the language. Most of the posters in the EU forums who are not located in the UK seem to be British ex-pats, no offence intended, or people like the Maltese, i.e. those who have been learning English from a very young age.
It would be nice to have people from different countries and cultures posting in the forums.
Regarding Malta's official language, well we have two, Maltese, and as you pointed out, English.
Oh, btw, there are loads of Maltese who are signed up to CS, but rarely or never post to the forums.
You may also notice that a fair percentage of people who post from Malta are not actually Maltese; but there again a lot of people saying they are posting from Spain are either not in Spain or not Spanish or whatever............. I believe that there is a Malta forum - but hardly anybody bothers to post in it!
What about the Spanish forum - does anybody post there?
I know the Irish (cute little people dat dey are) do post in the Irish forum to be sure an all an all an all...........
and dee americanos post in der international forum 'cos they fink 'international' = Americano!
Very true Rusty!!! I am actually still in UK but looking like I will at last be able to make my way to Spain before Spring, at least for some of the time as some of my divorce stuff is getting further ahead
Just didn't seem worth registering as "being in te UK" as I plan my future to be in Spain
I am sure people have different reasons (some are quite amazing and some are ) for registering in different countries than the one there are physically in ...
I think "the Maltese lot" have brought plenty of enjoyment to everyone in the EU forums and those who feel that there is an "imbalance" could always "swamp" the EU forum with "their own offerings" by starting new threads
Rusty, I copied and pasted the link and it worked on my laptop.
Another way to access the link I've posted previously, click "Polls" and then click "Hot Polls" in the "Polls Nav" at the top left hand corner of the page. Look of a poll called "What do you think of the new Polls feature?". It was posted by TallBrunette22, and in her first post you will find an overview of how the Polls work. Currently this poll is in the first page.
Cause you got the most people living in Malta. There are only 2 and a half people living in Switzerland, actual active people on the Forum (the half is Lagoona who has one foot here and the other foot in Malta), there`s about 3 or 4 people in Spain, a couple more in the UK, a small handful in Canada, oh, and two in France I think....
So, Malta, being so crowded, obviously draws our attention to it.
