Ok, bring your comments and ideas to tell how you measure success.
To me, success is not by wealth, but by what we have given back to the world in our lifetimes no matter how long or short they are. Whether it be we touched a heart, have a good family and lots of good friends, have helped others the best we could, or even just lived a happy life the best we could and are thankful for what we have.
Success by money, well I have seen some close friends go from riches to rags when the stock market busted and they were always proud of their success in their financial freedom, but are now living day to day with what they make like everyone else. So I have never measured success by money, For it is here one day and gone the next. Maybe you know of someone who went from riches to rags overnight too.
Just curious what others think is success in that what makes up a successful life for you.

I measure success in how much of a good mother I have been, how proud I am that my boys made it vocationally... i also measure it in how I succeed at my hobbies... how many blue ribbons and trophies do I have... how well does my garden grow... am I a good person, do I purposely go out of my way to say hello and help friends and family whenever I can.. Can I adjust to culture diversity, can I always be a bleeding heart - Yes I have success.
I think being truely successful is when you are happy with your life. Genuinely pleased with your friends. Being around people who make you smile and enjoy the things in life. Same with family and whomever. Being happy with your job. That even if you come home tired and miserable, you think about it, and realize that, yea, it's pretty good all in all. You're right, money does not mean success at all. It just means you have money. ( although I would very much love to have lots n'lots of money lol ) It's when you can look back at yourself, and think, it's all good now, then smile and mean it.
for me success is not being rich ,once we are happy and enjoying our job, that is great.if no one sick in the member of our family, that is fantastic..good communication with my son is perfect and happy with friends, that is blessed..just to be with someone special soon and everything will be perfect..

personally i think everyone who says its not about money....has money. In this day and age you need money not only to be successful but to have any standard of life. So money first and then all the other things that are important, by the way i dont have any i wish i had to make my life better

Ah Kev. Do you think rich people don't suffer from depression? I'm far from rich but if I have a wee bit more coming in by the end of the month than there is going out, then I'm a succees. Your health is your wealth.

Nope. I have a wee 2 bedroomed bungalow which I rent and I've just scrapped my 14 year old car and replaced it with a 3 year old one which I need to last for 10 years. I have no family, no wife, no sons, no daughters and if you worked out my hourly rate, I would be well below minimum wage.
But I'm happy enough with my lot. That's why I see myself as a success. It all depends on what your lowest point in life was. If I take that as my reference point, then I am rich and successful today.

kev147,people heve different mind,im happy with my job,i can buy what i want, almost have everything but i never dream being a millionaire or a famous one...i know money is first to others but once u have it already,u will choice the other things.

Not at all. Life forced a wee bit of humility into me. I searched for years for a job to match my ego but God had got there first. Trust me, it wasn't virtue that made me this way. Also there's a fair bit of arrogance in that since I've lived longer than you, I'm bound to have seen a wee bit more than you.
To me money is only a bonus.I consider it financial independence.
I measure success by how I raised my son,who my son became,my relationships and friendships and how I treat others.I also measure all my successes by how I've tried to lead my own life.

If you are ahppy and can bring some joy to others, then you are a success. It has nothing to do with material things. How does that song go/ I got plenty of nuttin and nuttin plenty for me.
to have studied what you love and to have a job reagrding what you mostly consider a bout and actually having problem to distinguish wheather you are enjoying your work time or you are on hodiday coz always you do the same thing..
