Been thinking about this for quite some time, even since before Obama was elected... as it got a bit annoying with all the political threads. Was hoping that it would die down after the election, but I can't say it has..
Wouldn't it be good to have one big USA forum to discuss USA issues??
Not just for politics of course, but the model that the EU, Ireland etc formums have...

Just posted about it in another Thread! Good Idea!
It's not a bad idea. However, it's a big country. In addition have separate forums for east coast, west coast, midwest, and deep south. I don't know about the rest of the country, but at this point the NJ one is almost totally inactive. I'm glad it's there, but until a lot more people sign up for membership, a regional forum might be more effective.
Yes, a great idea. I have been "fussed" at by some European members for talking about what happens in America when in the International Forum.
I can only talk about what I know but they still get uppity.
My state doesn't really have many active members in their forum and besides I am interested in talking to people outside my local area but perhaps not always as far as overseas.
I think American or even combine the Americas and Canada would be good. I hope the site will go for some change to make it better for us.
USA states, would be too many arguments as we are tooooooooo diversified here but most of us love our country although we are not prefect. I do enjoy thoughts from afar and gives me more perspective and I find it educational with reasonability of course.

It would be WONDERFUL to have a USA forum!! The North American Forums!! Canada is included and the islands.
They should do away with the state forums probably, as they just do not get participation.
Perhaps more lurkers in the U.S. and Canada would participate in forums, as they would not have so much fear of being devoured by those in other countries who dislike Americans and have no trouble telling us so.
Just as you do, drbombay, I also enjoy thoughts from afar, sometimes. Many from afar have good perspectives and contribute so much intelligent information in the forums, such as Conrad and Solitare.
Of course anyone would be able to participate, no matter where in the world they live. But those who care not to discuss American Politics etc. can stay in their own little world and live in peace without the knowledge of our postings.
You for one, olso, have made it very clear in the forums that you have no desire to discuss our matters. You don't have to read them, you know.

Well, I contacted CS with this very suggestion about 2 months ago and haven't heard a work from them either pro or con. I even offered to help them set it up. My idea to them was to divide the US up into 6-8 zones such as North East, South west etc. I assumed they were already working on this and wanted to surprise everybody so they didn't want to spoil the surprise by saying anything to me.
as far as the political threads go i see a lot of international people speaking on US politics as much so as Americans so I don't think how that will change unless they go to the USA forum

Have I??? I used to discuss them, but I can't be bothered much these days...
Oh, but I do read them... but it might be good to move over to a USA forum to look for them, the times I'd want to take part...
I think if they want to leave the state forums fine. the New York one is dead, but one for the whole country would get a lot more use. or like was mentioned, one for North America would also be good. Just my tho cents worth.
Nov 13, 2009 8:28 PM CST Why not make the USA forum into one big one instead of having one for each state?

Great idea, if you check out most individual state forums , they are inactive or very slow most of the time, if you combined them you would have a more diverse group of people interacting as we do in the international forums, therefore a much better chance for people to meet new prospective partners.
NAKEDMUDPEOPLE: California posts are very slow as well. This will be my third date from this site in over a year. I think I may be charmed by this one!
Hey Lady, good luck. The last post in the NY forum was October 29.
