Well I have news for you; besides getting "free benefits" if they are eligible for any that is, , they are exploited and they fulfill a socio-economic need others aren't willing to. So here's to all the illegals

Immigration can be really good for a country.. e.g. the US and now Irelands economic success has been largely built on it... we have alot of Polish and Chinese people here in Ireland who are making a great contribution to our society because they come over here with a spirit of hard work and progress (most of them anyway).. and I also feel some sympathy for people who are fleeing genuine persecution.. I don't agree with a giving people a free ride though.. when the Irish went to the US to flee famine.. we worked... and I would expect the same from anyone who comes over here...

People that come to the U.S. thru proper channels I have NO problem with...although I would like to see a 5 year freeze, just to let things settle down and let people assimilate, which really isn't happening.

Illegal immigrants are not entitled to state benefits.

Let's perhaps look at unscrupulous employers who use illegal immigrants as cheap labour, or private landlords who are also willing to overlook that their tenants, often in dangerously overcrowded properties, are illegal immigrants.

The UK has a good record of integrating immigrants from all over the world and these people have brought enormous financial benefit to the country.

this whole debate is ridiculous...if something is ILlegal then why should it be accepted? if you are here ILlegal you should be deported and your country of origin should deal with the ramifications...i have no problem with people wanting to come to the u.s. in fact, it makes me proud to know people would rather be here than anywhere else. but there is a system and means of becoming a citizen in this state. do that, and you're welcome to stay in my house if need be!

Touchy subject for me. I tend to find immigrants, legal or otherwise, nicer and more genuine than the helpless entitled folks that pay them to care for their yards, wash their cars, and clean their homes around here.

Around here, most aren't so lazy that we can't do all of that for ourselves instead of hiring someone. Only the lazy snobs up the hill do it, and that is just as a "show of wealth" as if anyone cares LOL (Heck, I even go and do yards for some of the elderly who aren't physically able to, no charge). When I worked for the snobs, got a pretty good idea of how arrogant and ignorant they were, and how the only reason they did hire anyone who wasn't white was to make themselves feel like "Lord and Master". It was sick, and I started refusing the jobs any more just to get away from the witchy wife. Uh, and the pay was $20 per hour. Guess it goes to show that some of us just don't want to work for a**hole, and has nothing to do with $ or feeling we are too good for that type of work LOL
If I have a job to hire out to someone, sure wouldn't give it to an illegal, who knows what other crimes they would try to pull since they have already gotten away with others. Not in my best interest to trust someone who has already proven they have no honor etc.
And what if they screw up the job? What recourse do I have? Not the same as with a reputable, legal one, that isn't as like to just go run south across the border to escape prosecution.
And no, my conscience would have a hard time being a party to what they are doing to this country overall. Either you are part of the problem or part of the solution. Time for everyone to pick a side, it has gotten just that bad.

Nothing wrong with immigration, just do it legally. If you allow them to stay, you open the flood gates as most American's know all to well. You send them back, one by one.

Refugees are the ones who get benefits and most of them are now allowed to work I don't believe there is any illegal immigrant that is not willing to work. Immigrate legally ? i totally agree with that.

What about the "regular" citizen trying eek out a living and seeing their entitled jobs going to illegals and their wages staying low because these people will take jobs for nothing. It isn't fair and whoever hires illegals should be fined the maximum.

I understand what you are saying, but I also don't see many of those regular citizens desirous of picking vegetables in a field or drying cars.

What about all the jobs being outsourced by large corporations? You know, the jobs that used to pay well? Why can't an American car, and all it's commensurate components, be built here? Why can't I make a call to technical support and get a voice I understand?

I have found a lot of them tend to work harder and our some of our citizens tend to use welfare and drink it or not maybe child support but that is a whole other thread. But yes I do understand what you are saying. It's a catch 50/50 in my opinion.
