Phoenix: I've a friend who's about to stop smokin'...I suggested Champix.
Do you think it works???
Wouldn’t it be more logical to ask whether someone has used it and then to share the experience? Those who haven’t used it can think exactly whatever they pleased to – would the thinking help?
It's worked very well for a few people I know, and have heard of a few other success stories from them as well. One woman quit even though she wasn't intending on giving up cigarettes, it was her hubby that was quitting. He asked her to give it a try with him, and they both kicked the habit together.
I tried it a year and a half ago, and it didn't do a thing for me. I didn't even get any of the side effects, which can be nasty for some people.
ive tried loads of things-but cold turkey is the only way for me-its all in your attitude,if you really want to stop you will, just takes a while before you get to that point.
I'm reading Allan Carr's "EASYWAY to stop Smoking" and its working perfectly fine for me. Its a great book, I recommend it for the ones, like me, trying to stop.

Lala.
PS: What is Champix?
Some sort of magic drug. Never used it , nor ever tried to stop.
Cowhand: If I had something better use for my lips... and joy ... I'd gladly stop smoking .... but I have not... so why give up the last pleasure I have ???
Rather .... vehicles and factories should be "given up" ... then we can all continue to smoke in peace........like human-kind have been doing since fire was invented......
Stopped because I had to,because of a Medical Condition, otherwise I'd probably still be smoking! ____________________________
"I like to think of fire held in a man's hand. Fire, a dangerous force, tamed at his fingertips. I often wonder about the hours when a man sits alone, watching the smoke of a cigarette, thinking. I wonder what great things have come from such hours. When a man thinks, there is a spot of fire alive in his mind--and it is proper that he should have the burning point of a cigarette as his one expression."

kidatheart: Laser therapy...how does that work? I hope they don't zap the entire brain, I'm trying desperately to keep what little I have left.
okay,
they put you upon a chair, and then they shoot a laser beam between your eyes, above your ears and some other place I forgot...somewhere in the face.
it takes about one minute...and then they send you of with a bottle of extra vitamines
the laser activates new endorfine in your bloodstream and your body thinks the nicotine is still in there. so you don't want to smoke because you do not need it....
I couldn't believe my friend when she told me....but she quit smoking for almost a month now and most important....she doesn't gain weight.

Hmmm, I might have to look into this, seeing as I've tried most other methods, other than hypnosis. Nothing has worked so far, except for cold turkey, and that's only for a couple months at the longest.

Phoenix: You could chop your fingers off...Or just accept the fact you are in good company like smoky and myself..Weak willed...
Yes, admit you are weak willed. And then go buy some air-dried tobacco ... sold in big cardboard "cans" ... half the price of bought cigarettes .. and some hemp rolling papers ... and roll your own!
Actually .... I met my own good man ... cause he ALSO rolls his own! .. and he taught me about the hemp papers .. normal el-cheapo papers are chemical saturated so they keep burning, so they are not cheap, just a con, and unhealthy.
Hahaha .. yes, you can smoke in a more healthy way. You just wont look very elegant! And you gotta find a place to sit down so you can concentrate on rolling your smoke. And then you gotta smoke it, cause if you pause too long it goes out.......
