The state of AZ just passed a law allowing police to stop anybody and challenge their right to be in the USA by showing some proof of being here legally. Some estimates place the number of illegal aliens at as many as 13 million. There is a "war" going on between Mexican drug cartels which spills over into the US and many Americans have fallen victim to it. Illegal aliens also take jobs that can be done my Americans.
The other side of the coin is that this law harks back to Germany and other countries in Europe during the 30's & 40's with people (mostly jews) being arrested and sent to concentration camps where millions were killed.
Does a country or state have the right to check a persons residency status or does this law open up a can of worms?
Arizona's position is if the federal gov wont protect our borders, we will.
I live in NY ..long ways from there really but I am glad something is being done here, even if it is wrong I think it will bring change to this problem...
Ooby, I have a few relatives in from California that were talking about this last night. They go to Arizona, too.
They were saying that a lot of the drug cartel come in and take over areas and run everybody else out. They will pick a neighborhood and take over it to sell their drugs and have their gang hangouts.
I don't know a lot of details, so I'm afraid to say much more. I was just listening to my uncle and others talk about it. But, if I understood them correctly, the drug cartel are not legal U.S. citizens and are not suppose to even be in the U.S.
Also, my nephew from California said they his wife treats many illegals daily in the ER, fresh off the boat from China or from over the boarder. They come in to the hospital having medical emergencies and the hospital has to treat them, knowing they will not get paid.
I don't live in the US so my view is fairly academic but out of curiosity how many of these challenges are going to be made against White Caucasians and how many against Hispanics? Why not just have a law saying Hispanics must wear their identity card on the front of their clothes for all to see. Now remind me where did I hear that one?
For one thing there are already Federal laws on the books like the one Arizona just passed. To compare it to Germany is pure ignorance no one is getting sent to Concentration camps what an idiot. These are "ILLEGAL ALIENS" the Constitution is for Citizens it does not apply to "ILLEGALS" Check out "Powers of immigration officers and employees"8 U.S.C. § 1357 : US Code - Section 1357
A green card is issued to all permanent residents as proof that they are authorized to live and work in the United States . If you are a permanent resident age 18 or older, you are required to have a valid green card in your possession at all times.

If the South Americans can enter so easily, what makes you think foreign terrorists aren't doing the same, can't believe the US federal government is that f..ked up. Stop to think about it, we're fighting two wars in the middle east against terrorism yet our borders are virtually wide open and the feds can't send a few troops down to protect US borders.
I am not sure how to answer this one as I do understand what they are trying to do, I was stopped near the USA Canada border years back, had just worked on a vehicle I just bought and still at the persons house, as I was dirty and walking only a block from the Border, Customs asked me numerous questions and when they were satisfied I was went home...

Sending Troops is BS, a short term fix, When it's time to get serious- you build a double wide fence with Barb's and a BIG mote in the middle with crock's and put like a million mines in there, that should discourage a few drug dealers?
I'm all for the new law. It should be nationwide as far as I'm concerned. I can tolerate immigrants that have enough respect to learn the language and come here legally, but these illegals have got to go.

cgedvr: The poo poo is getting ready to hit the fan...open carry in Az. I'm moving...thats after the big quake and there's beachfront property there....
There's always been open firearms carry law here, as long as it is visible, but the new law will allow you to carry concealed firearms without a special permit. The old west still lives in AZ. C'mon over after the big one breaks Cali off, I plan on opening a marina over by Quartzite.

Obama- I definitely Anti America as we know it.
I wouldn't doubt one bit that he wouldn't mind living in France after he finishes ruining America he'll simply take his private learjet to Paris. Bon Mother F~IN` Jour!
Bush was Bad and Obama is the Worst President- EVER!
Before years end Obama is encourageing legalization and nationalization of all of Mexico, remember in Woodstock the mob broke down the fence to get in??? The Obamanization!
His end result will have to be Legalizing all of Mexico.

I am Mexican who came to this contry legal, and work hard, and pay my taxes as everybody. I can understand the State of Arizona came up with this new Law in order to catch Ilegals and send them back to Mexico. In fact I agree with that. The state of Arizona is coming through many financial problems because of so many ilegals that take advantage of all this situation and get everuthing free. What I don't like is that the police is given so many power, they can stop anybody and ask for documentation. I don't know to what extent is right. As for the drugs cartels, I just what to mention, that Americans, are not the victims, come on!!!! here in USA are so many drugs, that (some) people do it for pleasure, and not for hunger,,,,
HJFinAZ: Damn right we do what the Feds won't do..
We also have an open carry law here in AZ..
Good for you man! I carry a Glock 22 in 40 cal everyday. Every legal american without a felony and of age should strap up....If you can legaly buy it wear it!

This law may look like this ...but there are people from all over the world that are here illegaly....however more I would say are from south of our border tho..
In response to: Good for you man! I carry a Glock 22 in 40 cal everyday. Every legal american without a felony and of age should strap up....If you can legaly buy it wear it!
Oh for goodness sakes... Mexicans aren't jihadists... especially most of the illegal ones... they just want to feed their families and the ones trafficking drugs, you'll never see.
I hate all this gun talk....And I hate the cowboy mentality, big boys with toys... you'll shoot you eye out.
Where the hell do you think you are... Baghdad central???
The only thing you'll end up shooting is another crazy gun toting idiot just like you, looking for any reason to pull a trigger.
