I see two females have voted in the "failure" department as being off-putting to "putting more into a relationship" .... is that the question?Well ... that`s how I am reading this poll thing of yours Phoenix ... interesting subject.....
I just found myself sort of withdrawing ... being super-sensitive (?) from my beautiful relationship. And analysing my feelings, I believe its fear of failure. So much has failed, so many times, and so the self-protection barriers come up .... just in case ..... sort-of like ... I want to be the strong one, and not the weakling should things fail...... stupid heh?...or not?

To enter a relationship is like to dive from a cliff. You can land into a convenient long-lasting partnership/marriage, like into warm water of a calm bay in a sunny day, there dolphins play, there never rain...
You can also crush onto rocks there at the bottom with all your weight (and baggage), head first, and land mashed tomato style. “…and it’s no one’s business where the splashes will fly”.
And it happens, not often though, that you would overcome the law of gravitation, get air under wings and set off into the cold, stormy unknown, colours of sunrise on your white feathers, strong, independent, all earthy stuff shaken off… the two of you…
The problem is: no one wants to jump with me.

Well… from my experience, love is a matter of courage.
How you start a relationship? You open your visor, you look out your shell, you turn off this spiel of ignorance and cynicism that you’ve been resorting to for ages…. If your counterpart wouldn’t spit into it, kick your defenceless body and laugh at your naked soul, then…
…then still there’s no guarantee that there’ll be a relationship. And if it’ll be, then you still cannot know whether it’ll succeed or not.
But if you won’t jump, no one will do it for you. Called “taking risks”, in this case emotional risks. Otherwise the two will stand there, staring into abyss, none is daring to be the first, both ending as the last. Singles together for ever.

Tulefel: Whatever you do, there always be a fear of pain, physical and emotional. And the latter one can be more unbearable than the first. (You’d know if you’ve experienced it, wouldn’t you?) So it’s not fear of failure or commitment that stops people, it’s fear of pain that life brings with it.
Now ... that is why I love you people here! I can bring all my stupid phobias here and get them aired and some inspiring replies to the quandaries that plague me ... in my off moments! Ja! I don`t like fear, so I guess one should just confront them, huh?
