So ironic and funny, us, Asians spend bucks just to get fair and white skin. While you guys, always wanted to have tan skin. Personally, I don't want to stay under the sun for fear of getting dark skin. My European friends always laugh at me... and when they stay a lot under the sun, I also laugh at them

Therefore I conclude, people can't be contented.
Yeah, I was totally surprised at the amount of skin bleaching products which were for sale in Thailand! I was outside all day getting a tan, and the Thais were inside, bleaching their skin!

Right! All Asians actually. In my country, Philippines, whitening products like soaps, pills, etc... are such a fad nowadays. It becomes one of their basic needs. And the most funny part of it, it's in our culture that you are not "perfectly beautiful" if you do not have white skin!
Yeah....well, that's us humans for ya'.....never happy!
As I speak...the storms, they are a' comin'!!!! It's REALLY windy here now and it's gone dull, cool and pretty horrible really!
I am definitely not a lay in the sun and burn person...I guess I got the idea for this poll from going into my local town yesterday and seeing an awful lot of "Lobster-People" walking around!! Ouch! Burnt skin like that always looks soooooo painful! Have had it a few odd times in past years, but am much more careful now. I used to be a very keen touring cyclist and always ended up with a sun tanned face, weird brown patterns on my hands from my cycle-mits and a crescent-moon shaped bit on my lower back where the gap between my tee shirt and shorts were...oh yes, and the classic cyclist chestnut brown legs and completely white feet and ankles!!! What a sight that was!!!

Well, I'm not one for laying out sunbathing, but before I go out with suntop and shorts on to do any gardening, I always put 30 factor sun protective cream on all exposed skin .... and moving about helps me get an even tan .... its coming slowly ...... its just great being out in the fresh air

Hey J! Weather is pretty good over this side too. I'm working on the tan - slowly but surely. Hate getting burnt!
A funny story? - My Dad, in his younger days, was heading out to the beach with his girlfriend of the time. She told him about an hour before they left: 'Oh, by the way, X and X are going too' Apparently my Father wasn't a big fan of X and X, and certainly didn't relish the idea of hitting the beach all day with them. He sighed, and said 'O.K. I'll be back in a minute' My Father went to the bathroom for a spell.... And when he came back he had shaved a cross all across his chest! Girlfriend:'Ah! you're not serious? Are you?' Dad:'What?'

Oh, I know all about refractive burning....Highland style anyway! Did a mountain leadership course many moons ago, and part of the course was camping out over 2 days in the Cairngorms (in Summer). I was well prepared and took everything I thought I would need....except sunglasses (which I never really wore much). Over the 2 day expedition it snowed heavily and ended up 2' deep but was very bright and sunny during the day!! Guess who "almost" got snow blindness!!!! Boy, that's sore!! Felt like someone had put red hot pokers in my eyes for about 3 days afterwards!

You know what tanned women and turkey have in common?
The white meat's always the best.
I haven't really tanned this year, or for many years really. Just the usual T shirt neckline up, and my arms, with the left being slightly darker.
If I were to take my sirt off, I'm sure I'd burn to a crisp, as well as blind a few people from the glare off my pasty white hide.

Hi Kid (invited by special request as going through a Canadian "summer")
Juneau: Hi Kid (invited by special request as going through a Canadian "summer")
It's been sunny on and off for the last week and a bit, with some rain mixed in, as per usual. I won't complain, seeing as it's been warm too, up to nearly 30 C.

I voted "Don't like the sun on my skin"
To be honest, I have the skin texture of a 94 year old. Due to my days of being a sun worshipper in the 70's and frying my skin in coconut oil Also, I became addicted to high power sunbeds some years ago which further wrecked my skin
These days, I'm totally reformed and truly commited to my anti-sun campaign.

I'll take my permament tan and dark skin any day of the week. I love my skin color just the way it is. Of course, I do staighten my hair, so I guess there is something we all are "uncontented" with about ourselves.
