rasgumby: I smoked Menthol.. so I use menthol coughdrops.... helps a lot.
I didnt realize you smoke.. I had to go look at your profile again.

Funny how the mind works.. is hard as hell to type right now.. keep hitting the wrong keys because of dizziness and odd thinking.
fingers keep going faster than my mind

I know I know.... what doesnt move faster than my mind

hey say it takes 2 weeks for breathing to become easier.. not correct in my case.
In 24 hours I could tell a huge difference!
already no weazing. and sleeping much better.
and not dreaming like I was when I was smoking.

yea I don't know who they base their tests on, it is stupid to say all are going to react the same, like a can of coke is supposed to be 2.5 servings or something like that?! come on, menthol are worse, they crystalize the lungs as well as cause cancer, you smoked the worse kind.Try you some mint candies dr.ras, and you might want to look into an herbal cleansing seriously I am not a freak on herbs I just don't believe in modern tech all the way.If you can get a puzzle to have something else to do with your hands, build a model car, or paint, sketch something! with your hands, lol and I mean that in a nice waywink lips

I do jigsaw almost constantly.. as you can see in one of my photos,
sounds silly, but I have one of those kiddie toys in my pocket for time I am out somewhere.
one of those with the numbers 1- 19 all mixed up. and you have to put them in order.

Sorry. you lost me there??
What do you mean?

Seems to be getting much easier already, only 4 pieces of the gum today and almost no cravings, don't know if it is the gum or if it is just normal to be this easy this soon?confused

A few times I even thought, would I smoke one if I had it, and the honest answer was NO.

Hows it going for the rest of the quitters???

Couple of strange things...
My hands and feet were always cold.. especially my hands, about 6 hours after quitting, my hands and feet were fine and have stayed warm..
2nd.. never noticed how much they are advertised and the trash thrown around.
I walk all over for exercise and just for time management to get my mind off of smoking.
But everywhere I walked there were cig pack thrown on the ground and signs with cig prices / adds everywhere, I actually changed my walking routes because of them.
My best fishing friend smokes a lot.. went to his house for a bit today and survived it fine. didnt bother me at all.
now that he has seen how I am coping with it, he is seriously wanting to quit..
So I told him that he can have my patches.. since I cant use them.
will see.

He is right!!tongue
is that is all... quit now while it is easy.. never know.. something could cause you to start heavier.
example.. dont you smoke more when you are mad or really stressed.. or like on a long drive??

One more thing with the gum.
if you have a lot of bad teeth... do not use it!!!
I only have 1 cavity and found out not to park the gum next to it.
Burns and get a quick buzz! guess it gets into the system too quick that way.
I can just imagine if you had a bunch of cavities... not good

Manolito: i do keep a kind of feelings diary/journal actually...

its just that, going through my 5th day of quitting smoking, i couldnt bring myself to post anything here, i would get banned off these forums the next minute

i opted in hiding my profile in a frail attempt to presere what friends i do have here..., but promise to post my feelings journal as soon as i can bring myself to softening it enough to be appropriate to be posted here without getting banned...

...now, excuse me, i got a few heads to go bite off...

Good luck Mano, and the rest of you. thumbs up

Good morning,
I'll let you know when I get woke up, will be a longer day, is storming and real high winds so I cant go out and walk much,, maybe around the block a few times, the neighbors will think Im nuts,
Got some word search books to work on, Web application to finish, dishes, fold laundry.. will do fine, Plenty to keep me busy.

If I run out of things to do, I can always tie a bunch of knots in my shoelaces and work to get them untiedtongue

rasgumby: Have you quit smoking?

Do you miss your butt?
I have smoked 2 packs per day since I was 16.. so that makes it 30 years of smoking.
For the past month I have cut back to One pack per day and less, have all of the Items in place to quit completely.. So When I go to bed tonight.. Thats it. Patchs ready.

How many here smoke and who have quit?
How many times have/ did you try quiting before you finally got there?
What made you finally kick it?

barf Im not much of a reader except for computer books, Bible or study. Books to learn from.

Of course Im calmer, Thats what sniffing paint thinner can do for ya!!!uh oh I am kidding

As bad as I was with my smokes... If I can quit after 30 yrs.. anyone can quit if they really want to, but each person is different.
Some may have to try over and over to finally get there.

irishlass45: the whole idea was to share your feelings of anxiety and anger and craziness with others that are trying to quit and maybe laugh at some of the things each has in common, factors my friend. You might also want to try what we call jolly ranchers get the cinnamon kind it gives off a warmth in your mouth, the feeling you might miss not having that cigg warmth.I am very proud of you even though I don't know you as I will be having to quit in a matter of months and will need the same help, my son has a certain amount of weight to lose then I have to quit cold turkey, I did try two years ago and I did not have to quit cold turkey, I used an herbal cleansing it is called smokeaway you might be able to find it online now this is supposed to work with one box on many but I found when taking the pills that it was not working on me until......I reached my last two days of pills and then the ciggs started tasting weird, why didn't I go for that second box I have no idea, no will power but two boxes may be needed as we all have different levels of toxins and tar in our bodies, the diff strokes for diff folks thingy, good luck and let us know of your progress as I will certainly being taking notes.

ok... see... on my 3rd day of quiting this thing cold turkey after 14 years of vigorous smoking, i came online and typed in a good page filled with what was going on in my mind while on the effort... I had a lot of details about feelings, urges, actions and reactions to all kinds of things... sad flower

It wasnt untill i pressed "post" button that i realised that my profile was hidden and i couldnt post frustrated
Thus, i lost everything i had taken the time to type in; and believe me, you dont want that kind of frustration when you've been off nicotine and tar for 3 days...

But i am on my 2nd week now, feeling better and i will be posting more of what's going on later.
Thanks for the support all!

Hoi Ras, how's it hanging over there?

Thanks Mindfull, and hiii wave hug

I had a major slip on day 4 of quiting, when i went out with a friend for a few drinks. There in the bar, with my Jack&coke in one hand, the other hand felt so awfully empty... i just couldnt resist it and i ended up smoking half a pack that night moping blues

That was 8 days ago and since that night i havent smoked again. I realise that i have to keep away from bars for some time, because it is very hard to resist smoking in a place where everyone else is smoking and where you were used to always smoke from the minute you entered till the minute you exited...

its a good motivator
