For me, I don't believe what scientists have to say or the new age has to say about what is going to happen to me. Not to start a debate here so calm down I believe what Jesus has to say to me.

"I wanna lie in an open field Want the snakes to suck my skin Want the worms to be my friends Want the birds to eat my eyes As here I lie The clouds fly by...."
"No eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn. "
Jim Morrison.
I think these quotes say it all about my feelings regarding life after death.
dcj22: Three years ago, my 19yo nephew died unexpectedly in his sleep. I later asked my pastor if I got to heaven and my nephew wasn't there, would I grieve for him. His response was that there are no tears in heaven. I replied that I couldn't imagine not grieving if my nephew weren't there with me. He said that I would not remember him.
That was completely unsatisfactory to me. It's made me question some of the things I've been taught in the church.
Good for you, Dana.
As I saw recently on a Desperate Housewives the pastor said: "Church is not about answers, but about questions."
Ambrose2007: "I wanna lie in an open field Want the snakes to suck my skin Want the worms to be my friends Want the birds to eat my eyes As here I lie The clouds fly by...."

Hey, Dana!!
uhm, the Lizard King meant he did not want to be in this world, but go into the spirit world.....Riders on the storm bro....the force is strong in me...at least now it is...had a couple of cold ones to take the edge off.
I like the premise of the Albert Brooks movie, 'Defending Your Life"....you keep coming back here, living lives over and over until you get it right; then when you do, you go to another plane of existence.....good movie, too.
StressFree: I believe that we go to the spirit world, experience other existences on all levels in other realms and astral planes as other entities and energies. We may come back to this earthly existence as humans, animals, plants, or anything that has a vibrating energy connected to Mother Earth and our universe to work out some karma and learn some valuable lessons to fulfill a certain destiny and journey. Ultimately, we would all like to go back to the source, the light....the Judeo-Christian-Islam concept of Heaven, The Hindu-Buddha concept of Nirvana. To escape this painful circle of life, and back to our source that connects all realities, illusions, time, matter and space.
I go along with this too. I suspect that once we do pass over we'll look back and recognise that on this earthly plane we are more 'dead' than when we rise into the spirit worlds.
Oh and while Jesus hasn't said a word for nearly 2000 years what he said then was amazing.

I don't believe Jim meant that at all, Stressless. He was definitely not a believer in New Age wisdom or in the afterlife.
classicrockgirl: Well if there is I am not coming back again!! This life was enough for me!!! Unless I can come back as a real mermaid
True, then it might be worthwhile, Classic! I love your new pic, btw - when you asked me about it before you do realize that your profile was temporarily kaput, right?

What about before he was a drunk Maybe I missed something or just need to read up on him again...just what I perceived by some of his poems and songs...I will take your word on that and rediscover him...
There is concrete , factual, scientific proof that the conciousness (or what some call the soul), survives outside the body for periods of up to 5 hours, as an experiment in Sandiago California showed about 10 years ago.
Mediumship,(the honest kind), also allows people to travel outside of our concept of time and place to contact people who are long dead and produce facts about that person that couldn't have been known about by the person doing the mediumship.
How is any of this explainable if there is no life beyond what we have in a human body?
