RillyNiceGuy: The man written of above, drinks to be able to sleep. When he is not asleep or drunk......he remembers and can't rest. There are men that gave there life and those who still are day by day.....fighting at night in the dark....alone. He is dead now, the peace of the end of the war finally reached him.
I understand, just like others deal with their pain by drugs, violence or suicide. It's a pity though, that we cannot ascertain this, at first sight.
People will always judge others according to what they understand, at the given moment.
I know i will keep away from drunks because my father had the problem once, that is how i deal with my pain. Every time he drunk, my mother would get hurt in some way. I relate alcohol to immensely undeserved pain. I do not have the capacity to exclude and sort out cause and means, i simply, stay away.
I hardly drink, myself and have never done any drugs, neither have any of my 5 sisters and 1 brother.
People can drink all they want, they should however keep the hell away from me, unless they are people i actually know, with whom i have a chance at helping establish the cause and finding a solution.
People drink a lot here in Finland, they say it relaxes them, but, sod that. I want nothing to do with that! There's always an excuse but help is readily available for them. See, some drink because they just love it, some drink to forget incidences, some drink to conform and some to help them relax. I don't have to accept that in my life, neither should i stick around and judge.
moonfoxinthesnow: you know after further examination, I am not so sure its so much judging as profiling. There are certain character traits that are shown in our physical body, how we carry ourselves, how we talk, how we act, how we hold our facial expressions that tell very distinct stories of who we are as people.
I think this post is the right answer
I can usually work it out very quickly what someone is like going by their mannerisms, attitude they project and some of their facial features
The biggest giveaway is their eyes if they have a shifty look, a crazed look or just an evil glare
A woman that I once knew had eyes that are so intensely evil she can bore holes through a plank of wood in 3 minutes just by staring intensely at it..(She's not a carpenter by trade by the way)
It's quite easy to work out mean people from just one glance at them or maybe two glances if a second opinion is needed or 3 glances if still a bit on the unsure side
Yes, a lot can be learn't from mean looking features and close knit eyebrows.

All people judge others by one standard or another.
examples: do they brush their teeth and bath often?
do they wear a suit or jeans?
do they take care of them self or let them self go to pot.

Truthfully, the only time I judge people by their looks is if they're dirty and/or sloppily dressed. Or dressed like a thug. You can't help what you look like underneath, but you can dang sure help what you put on.

OH YES WE CAN! Eat right, exercise and take care of ourself.
But if it is a birthmark or deformity...... then it cant be helped.
alabamabebe: People judge you on the way you present yourself. They are presuming you to be exactly what you look like you are. A tatooed body-builder. If that's who you are, be proud of it. If you don't like being perceived that way, grow some hair and cover the tats and bod when you're in public. That kind of judgement you can control. I used to ride motorcycles with my hubby and our friends. He and some of the others got pissed when we were dressed in leathers and helmets because we were judged as bikers. WTF, we were bikers. If people have a bad imageion of bikers, give them a reason to have a better one. Same goes for you. If people have a bad impression of you because of the way you look, just smile and be nice and give them the idea that you might be a nice guy under all the thug looking stuff.
That was the entire point. People judge... regardless of why...... People judge!
You have to know how to judge people by vibes, I know of people who were attractive and dressed well and they turned out to be dirt bag's. And others who didn't dress well and weren't attractive and they were the better person by far.

I think it would be incorrect to say we never make some sort of initial assessment of others based on appearances, though surely a judgement as such would be based on the behaviour of others and their treatment of other people??

I answered no but i know that its not easy to be so non-critical
In NL for rxample, women dress just like the men, in most cases.
That doesnt mesan though that they loose their femininity because of it although, they dont have the same kind of sensuality that women from the southern parts of europe seem to have.

Does the southern part of Europe include the UK, Tiny??

I form my opinion by one's actions and reactions. If the are nice people, then who gives a flying fu** who they look or dress. I don't care how they express themselves when it comes to fashion or by what clothes they wear. I have had many conversations with people who were dressed like a homeless person, or were even homeless. There is always something to learn from them or anyone...regardless of how they dress or look.

I think Stressfree is a man with a big heart. This is what all people should be like.

My answer is what is inside is more important or no, but honesty is the most important feature I look for. What I think of as attractive may not be what others think is, so to each his own. There is someone out there for everyone. As for honesty (and I apologize for sounding critical) but I checked out your profile. In this thread you said you are a big person, yet your profile says average. If you honestly are a big person, then it should say so in your profile if you're striving for honesty yourself.
No cause even if someone is overweight etc they still have feelings like everyone else and should be treated with the highest respect as we would give anyone else.
well, i guess the cover will tell you at a glance what is on the inside.... it doesn't mean you have any idea what is actually inside, maybe that book is just not for you.
Appearance is not just a physical thing, it is how a person carries them self, how they act.
If they can't stand up because they have an eating problem, or they have a scars on their wrists, or give themselves tattoos with a coat hanger then I would only assume that there were some emotional problems that helped to create the physical person.
A person creates their own image. The body is a temple, you would not enter a temple if you thought it was going to collapse, or if it were on fire, or if it were filled with the too many people.
The same thing happens when you look at a person.... everyone has their own presumptions and ideals they assign to images.... it is how we learn.

Well, yes, everybody has their opinions--it's how you express them and act on them that shows ugliness...refering to the post above, not yours
