Based on the thread accusing China of building a threat against America, I just wondered if the world outside of China actually knew what type of political structure the Chines Government uses.

politics of fear, and the rich rule the poor, just like everywhere else

So easy to criticise China, when all you have to go on are biased and untrue "Fats", when there is a chance to knock China, they pile in posting uninformed and imaginary "REDS UNDER THE BEDS" crap, when it's a balanced thread, well the voting speaks for itself..............
Communist China is dead, buried. This Government is calling itself the " Birth of Socialism" for China. Whilst I would be the first to say not everything is right with Chinese politics, there is no doubt that there is a lot going for it. Within 5-10 years it will be the biggest superpower, usurping the great USA, who will probably be in third spot behind India. Maybe then world peace will have a real chance at success
DiveBomber: Communism for sure. When the hardliners crack down, all those freedoms will be taken away.
What freedoms do you have that the Chinese don't? They can and do criticise their government, just as you can, if they break laws they are imprisoned just as in your country. Believe me, the communism you understand is not here in China. Sure they have a one party policy, but vote for the leader. they have strict laws against stating a competing party yes, but with good reason, China has the second largest population in the world, to have a 2 or 3 party system would cause massive problems as there would never be a clear majority, and without that, they (The government) could never implement the growth and financial systems, that have rescued China and created the rapid development the world is now starting to see
Conrad73: What Capitalism? A mixture of a bit of Socialism,Fascism, and plain Old Statism with some even older Collectivism would be the more appropriate Tag for any of today's Economies! Capitalism belongs exclusively in the hands of the People, not in the grubby hands of Politicians and Special Interests! Has never existed!

Can't argue with that Did you notice the way the voting has gone, just goes to show how uninformed some of the world is when it comes to politics

Ccincy: I have to admit I know nothing about China only what I've heard on the news.I'm lucky to know anything about the USA.
And therein lies the problem Ccincy, bad news sells, good news never did, so all we get to hear is all the bad thing that happen around the world but never the good or the better changes that are taking place everywhere. Sad really
So when did China change from Communism? At least we haven't had a Tiananmen square in the past 22 years here. And the people of China accept their very low paying jobs, because they have no choice. If they tried to rise up?? Tiananmen square! It's also my understanding they have many political prisoners. If I'm wrong, set me straight, because I don't study China on a regular basis or it's politics.

Well China is gradually increasing it's sphere of influence in Africa and doing it in a very imperialistic way but ever so quietly....
The amount of Billionaires in Shanghai is greater than New York...And this in a so called Communist country???
China has evolved into a burgeoning Super Power and it has the Financial clout to back itself.
Now as it increases it's African influence and I may add it's influence in Austral/Asia it will only gather momentum.
Now this really does not tie in with it's old Communist hard line government but it is a one party state ruled by an elite politburo and it will be the same for some time to come but it will change. However what to is the real question...

From my understanding china is still a one party country. Has that changed? And what is the name of this one party? If I call my car a mercedes that does not make it one, the fact remains it is a chevorlet I am really surprised at the amount of bitterness from you.

The freedom to sue the government to compensate for the hundred million people who were murdered in their 'Great Leap Forward.'
Until then, they're a communist dictatorship no matter what flavor of icing people such as yourself attempt to place on it. They murder their own people and have always done so and, will continue this behavior.
