Only in the minds of misandrists who want to trivialise men's illness and shame them into getting back to work regardless of how they feel. A man only has value in society when he works and produces so all sorts of tactics are used to get men to 'man up'.

Ah Face, stop being so predictable, its getting really boring.
Tomcats2: I am really ill have a stinking cold maybe its man flue, Man flue does it exist whats your thoughts on this can women get it too?
It's a terrible affliction altogether. Apparently you're ten times more likely to get it if you wear Abercrombie & Fitch and Own an iPad or iPhone (basically being an iPhag).

really good point face..
while i believe mens pain threshold is lower and flu is a definate reason to pity and care for someone, so men need more..
i dont think mens health is discussed enough.. especially the one thing many many older guys die from but are too sensitive and embarrassed to have checked out..
if a finger up their bum could save their life..then really who is trivialising mens health, possibly men ya know...
lads get yer prostates checked at the age its needed..please.

Well, thank you Fifi,
I think the pain thresholds of men/women have been established to be the other way round but I won't argue the point with you here since we (quite rarely) seem to be getting along.
To further elaborate my 'boring' and 'predictable' point, working age men are mocked for over dramatising their illnesses and for being unable to express their feelings just as boys are mocked for having feelings, for crying and for being sensitive. That’s how male disposability is built, brick by brick, and male disposability is the reason why men undervalue their own worth and health.
From an early age men’s needs and inner life are0 ignored by society (school/authority) and by their carers who at that age are predominantly women. Ask the men you know how many times someone took an interest in their inner life when they were growing up. How many times they were asked about their feeling, their likes and their dreams. I bet most men will answer ‘zero’.
If a girl cries she gets attention. If a boy cries he gets mocked. And we wonder why men don’t express their feelings more? If a woman is sick she gets pampered, if a man is sick he gets mocked and we wonder why men don’t take better care of their health?

I agree on the pain threshold, or at least know mine is very low, but.. when it comes to upbringing as an explanation though, I always thought there are actual differences in the brain? Evolutionary I would say hunters were often subjected to injuries, they could not allow themselves to stop and cry over them, they had to bring food home, and thus I would imagine did not develop a 'moan' attitude? Crying would not help much when the prey needs to be rbought down.. but maybe I am wrong >.>

That could be the reason. I suppose with the bigger muscles and harder bones we also developed that abilty to deal with all the pain that helped us deal with those.

Males are not as tough though today anymore. I mean from info I have come at least, a lot of the meat today comes from animals which have been fed female hormones, to increase their weight faster, and beer shall apparently contain female hormones too, or somethong similar? And the physical activity levels are far lower as well, already in childhood I'd assume.
not all boys are mocked for crying..not all girls cry for attention, some are very very strong and spend their entire lives holding everyone around them up.
the only reason u dont hear or see these 2 rule breakers is cos they are ok..they have a whinge or no whinge when they want.
i dunno bout the pain thing..tattoo artist friend of mine told me men cry like babies where women just wince..and get on with it.
yeah i didnt use childbirth..theres a lot of women who would..
id give birth to 50 kids than put up with disk protrusion and arthritis daily wearing pain.
saying that dinner time would be a real pain
I said to a young wan recently that I was looking for someone to have about 8 or 9 kids for me. She laughed and said 'sure after the 1st 5, they'd start walking out'
Look, childbirth sucks - it's sore, and that's that. But it's part of life, and whatever pain I endured is far, far, FAR exceeded by the joy my daughter has brought me over the past 19 years, and continues to do.
Anyway, once the due date arrives, it's coming out, whether you like it or not, and no amount of willpower is going to change that fact, lol.
I think alimony is far more painful - it's the screwing you get for the screwing you got, and it lasts a hell of a lot longer than labour pains.
As for pain, and men, I agree with Face. Men are taught not to cry, not to show emotions - and suicide rates in males are proof of their difficulty in expressing what they're feeling, or going through.
Personally, I like a man with a heart that he is comfortable enough to show.

Old saying about childbirth if you dont feel it going in you will certainly feel it coming out

take lots of vitamin C, some hot whiskey with lemon and honey, get actifed (that stuff is amazing for drying up the nose and eyes and getting rid of the hot head), lots of sleep and soup!
Hope you are better soon
Not sure if men get flu worse than women but either way it is a horrible dose....hope you are better soon!
