I'd agree with HC, Father Ted and Black Books, Irish comedy on a roll, Mrs Brown, nah, the odd chuckle, thats about it for me...and as for the film, definately not....
Glatlol: Have never heard of Black Books but judging by previous posts I probably wouldnt find it funny lol.
Thankfully finding the same shows funny isnt necessary for friendship or we would be feked lol.
Black Books was written by Graham Linenhan (one half of the Father Ted writing team) and Dylan Moran (stand up commedian), who as Diva mentioned (Hi Diva, hope you's well!) worked alongside Bill Bailey and the wonderfull Tamsin Grieg, Black Books is the natural successor to Ted, and plays like a modern day Fawlty Towers....Three series were made, and frankly, it should be left now to bask in its glory....Perfect comedy and like Fawlty Towers, this will be talked about for years to come as the most intellegent stream of consciousness comedy that has been written in the last 20 years.....
I find most comedies unfunny. I much prefer the regular Irish sense of humour that you find when you are talking to someone in a pub, or when you meet them on the street for a chat, much funnier and wittier than the forced humour in most shows/stand-up routines

Agreed Molls, but, every decade puts up an iconic show, its nearly worth getting people to post their 'decade list'....
1950s.....The Goons... 1960s.....Monty Python... 1970s.....Fawlty Towers / Spike Milligans Q series... 1980s.....Black Adder / Not The 9o'clock News... 1990s.....The Day Today / Father Ted / Jam... 2000s.....Brass Eye / Black Books / The Office / Lead Balloon / Curb Your Enthusiasm...
These are my choices, and yes, no fools and horses, no victor meldrew and really, nothing in the last ten years...

Good idea AB I think one, me anyway, finds different things funny at different stages of life too.
I did enjoy The Office for its pure cringeworthiness! Morecombe and Wise. Pink Panther films for Peter Sellers genius Fawlty Towers And for reasons I could never even explain to myself..American Pie!

Honestly other than Black Adder everyone of those would appear on my worst ever shows list, absolutely dreadful in my opinion nothing funny about any off them.

Loved the Goons, Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Father Ted. But of your list my absolute favourites were Black Books and Black Adder - very witty. I enjoy Mrs Brown although it gets a bit too much in parts. Also enjoyed the British shows, Men from the Ministry, Keeping up Appearances and The Royles (not sure of the spelling).
Have seen some of the latest shows and can't make head or tail of the humour which lacks wit and intelligence and seems to be following the style of American drivel.

Humor is like music, a very personal thing, and to be honest, i have never followed the tried and tested path with either, and i positively detest canned laughter.... Heres a thing, 'Something about Mary', people laughing like drains at the 'hair gel scene', me, stone faced, whereas, the scene with the 2 'musical trubadours' playing a song while stuck halfway up a tree had me in stitches, with others looking at me as to say, "are you alright in the head there mate".... Im very obviously not cut out for the clean getaway where comedy is concerned and will take satire every time instead of predictable cheap laughs, fools and horses, keeping up appearances, one foot in the grave, formulaic, the royal family now is quite another thing, though still off my wishlist...I should give an honoury mention to Eddie Izzard's fantactic off beat 'Cows', ill just say, its the stuff of coke fueled inspiration....Nuff said...

Have to say really enjoy big bang theory, different then usual american comedy.
