Not everyone is as pc literate as others. Some join here to actually date and for no other reason.

I had no interest in the forums, I was joined CS a year before coming on here.
I know I had Chat, but many people just use the email function to meet people.
Many of the people I have met have been email-people only.

I think that you can get a wee bit of an idea about a persons personality from their posts on the forums so I would say that it would help. I have met people at CS meets male and female and some were very much like I had imagined them to be from their posts and others were quite different. Either way, I think that the forums are a good way to interact.

A dating site is not a social networking site, the forums are being used for most meaningless ramble from inert people that have been on here too long and they use the forums to either waste time or just rant or there is a small scat of people who use them daily to ask redundant questions, you can just look through most of the forums thread titles to see this.
Most dating sites keep forums to a minimum or not at all or for paid support only, CS is an exception.
