As peoples views differ when it comes to online cheating i'd be interested to see the results or any feedback in relation to this.

I think online cheating, like offline cheating, is very subjective.

What one considers to be cheating, another might not take any issue with at all.

I guess when people do get together, they should discuss what they are comfortable with, or not, so both know where they stand.

All of it, because one thing leads to another ,

There is never a need to cheat, if someone,is unhappy in the
relationship, just come clean, be honest, and leave the relationship,
then and only then, is it not cheating, That's my opinion!!

Yeah I agree.

I came across an article the other day which states and an online emotional affair (non s*xual) is a lot more damaging than just going out having a one night stand. It also said that some online cheaters do not see flirting/sexting as cheating, only the physical act.

I think it is a very tough one.

Some people are very clear cut and dogmatic about it, but I don't think it is that easy.

My limited experience, the internet makes overlap a whole lot easier.

Overlap is such a nice benign word

Well I guess I could either rant and rave, using all kinds of bitter-sounding language. Or be a bit zen and flaky about it all and not worry too much. I chose the latter approach, figuring the next guy will have the same issue.

Ranting rarely works.

As for the cheating/overlapping, what are your thoughts on it? Where does it start?

Bit of a grey area, but my opinion would be at the point of actively seeking out somebody else. For me, one at a time is enough, but I think some folks need to be wanted- or want to be needed, with no down time between adventures.

I agree with you on the 'actively looking' point.

I do know people who can't bear the thought of being by themselves, so do overlap.

Yes, I've a good friend who always does overlap. There's always tears and drama, occasionally stalking and abuse.
Mind you, I have to wait a while between drinks, and often get friendzoned. So its probably swings and roundabouts really.

Maybe overlapping should become socially acceptable.

Overlappers see it that way too. Apparently the overlappees dont.

That's why I said it should become the universally accepted way of breaking up

Acceptable to all

Patnips: I agree also on the actively looking point.

I think some do it for attention and reassurance that they still "have it".

I think insecurity that their partner is about to do it, so get in first... There's probably no single reason, but age and wisdom says if its not meant to be the best revenge is to live well.
