Master Mind Game Play

Here is a play-by-play explanation:

  1. I drag 3 random pegs onto the board. The computer tells me that 3 of them are the right color and 1 is in the right spot.
  2. I want to find which color is wrong, so I leave 3 of them alone and try a new color (peach). Based on the computer's clues, I now know that dark blue is for sure correct color but in the wrong spot.
  3. I go back to the order I tried in "Step 1", and this time I replace a different color (I replace yellow with light blue). Based on the clues, I figure out that either yellow is the color that is incorrect in "Step 1", or that light blue is correct, and one of the others (pink, brown or yellow) are incorrect.
  4. I decide to test the theory that yellow is incorrect. I try another color. Based on the computer's clues I now know that yellow was in fact the incorrect color in "Step 1". (I know that blue, pink and brown are correct now, so I just need to keep trying other colors with those 3 until I get it)
  5. I try red, and now I find that I have all the right colors but none of the right spots. This is a great position to be in! Now its easy...I just rearrange them until I find the right order.
  6. For step 6-9, I just try different orders until I find the right order. I can look back at clues to try and find which ones are in the right spot. For instance, if I look at "Step 1", I can see that 1 of the pegs was in the right spot. It cannot be the dark blue one, because according to "Step 5", it is in the wrong spot. So it has to be the pink one or the brown one that is in the right spot.

    1. NOTE: The less time it takes you to figure it out and the less tries, the higher your score will be.
